2024-09-27 20:42:47 +0000 UTCI think you are wrong about Giannis or at least you have a higher standard of leadership. Giannis is a simple and grateful kid that went from poverty to absolute stardom. His family is unbelievable (his late father, mother and siblings, especially Thanasis) and they have a constant positive impact on him. All the brothers are contributing to charities, have special programs helping kids in Greece. But if you expect Kobe wisdom and philosophy you are looking at the wrong place. Giannis just copies his idols in matters that are beyond him. His own philosophy is hard work and loyalty. He is grateful to his family and my guess to the Milwaukee Bucks for the opportunity. I believe that he will stay in Milwaukee.

Advanced ESL speakers can sometimes get tripped up by very subtle cultural connotations. Random example: In America, if you say “I can see he’s been putting in the work”, that means the person has been doing well. If you say, that “I can see he’s trying”, that means the person has been doing poorly. In Nigeria (where my folks are from) it’s the exact opposite. When someone succeeds, you say “he tried” as in, he put in the work and succeeded. Anyways, there’s a lot of ways that advanced ESL folks can be saying something that is totally misinterpreted because of local norms.

2024-09-21 20:47:29 +0000 UTCI liked the Clips sigings as well, but the reason I think everyone's out on them is they're a low floor + low ceiling team with Kawhi's health combined with the pumpkin J-Hard turns into in the Playoffs. I agree they could steal one of those 6 playoff spots, but not only is it more likely they don't make the playoffs, even if they did, the only way for them to be respected as a contender is believing Harden despite his impeccable resume of consistently disappearing for almost a decade now.

He seemed like the ideal star to build around - almost an old school mentality that also translated to his on-floor motor -- Fast-forward to today, he might be the most obnoxious individual in all of basketball. He cheesy as fuck when he's joking around, and he's a walking contradiction in interviews these last few years...still one of the best players on the floor, but it would be painful to have support him day in and day out
