Ironically, I think the number of players who can play point guard (Steph, Podz, Beakman, and sometimes Melton), plus the additional point forwards (Drey, Anderson), make Spence redundant, and thus expendable. If they knew from the start, and I think they did, that they werent' willing to let go of Beakman because of his defense, then Plowden should have gotten Spencer's spot. I think this one will bite us. -- But then again Atlanta isn't all that bright, so maybe he gets lost in their shuffling and comes back to the Warriors via the G-League.

Now it’s like…that was one of the most wretched close outs I’ve ever seen. Not to overdo it, but it really reminded me of when my six year old is trying to play D and he forgets he’s supposed to stay between me and the basket.

But what about Plowden over Spencer? Don't get me wrong, I like Pat Spencer, he has a grit and underdog energy that is nice to have on a 2-way. But Plowden seems to do just about everything Spencer does, only better (minus maybe handling the ball as a pseudo-PG). That move is done, time to move on, but it still doesn't make too much basketball sense.

If given the opportunity, Mood would likely become the superior on ball matchup defender against Allstar guards. Especially since the majority of elite ball handlers in the West are "wing" sized: Luka, SGA, Ant, Book. Moses is the ideal 2 next to Curry, especially if Draymond continues to close at 5. But I'm aware Kerr does not see it that way at all.

Then he steps left, right, left. That's 3 steps after the gather step. Yes he does step on his left very quickly after the gather and the blur can be misconstrued as a left foot gather; but slowing it down it's definitely a travle

Podz needs a big run way to elevate and I think that hurts his potential middy he wants to incorporate

2024-10-07 04:33:56 +0000 UTCI know it's early days yet, but if Kuminga's angles and closeouts don't improve, I'd be entirely comfortable using him in a trade to get a big name or a true big down the line. His slashing and foul-drawing are definitely assets, but we actually have a lot of good pieces and I can see him being an "odd man out" in terms of role. Waters of course, super exciting to see.

AI could take their place and no one would notice. Who would figure that the ‘stars’ of the first game would be Moody & Loon? I give the kid credit for seizing his opportunity, but he’s desperate, the way the veterans played is more reflective of what we will see this season. They certainly have depth. How soon we turn on JK for not being the superstar we hoped for. He’s a good NBA player, worth keeping but his minutes will probably diminish this year. How will he take to that development? Somehow the sum of Buddy Hield’s contributions is less than what the stats seem to indicate. He, too, will show his character by the way he handles a diminished role.

I mean surely Kerr and his staff must be making it clear what they want to see from him? How was this not a focus of his off season work? Elsewhere, if Podz could just stop with those fucking floaters and runners that would be great. 3s, simple middys and getting to the cup my guy. Loon looks great we'll see how long it lasts etc but he's not stuck in glue anymore and he needs to be taking at least a few middys every game. Telecast was fucking terrible both FItz and Bukie and the Clippers team were both earbleeding to listen to.

That said, he's on a 2-way contract so they can make a change at that spot at any time if they need to. If he does stick around, I don't expect him to play much with the NBA roster this season anyway barring injury.

I think in this one game alone he's solidified his spot on the roster. As far as Gui and Knox go, I agree Gui has the edge. He's been in the system for a couple seasons now, knows where to be, and has one more season on his contract after this one. Both he and Waters just seem like ideal end of the bench pieces. I appreciate Knox and the work he put in during SL to get a training camp invite, but I just don't think it'll be enough to keep him over Gui.

Based on game 1 and how the pecking order went. I would put Gui ahead of Knox. I think like the other guys that came in late Knox will get an exhibit 10, he isn't showing enough to cut the line in front of Gui(who has institutional knowledge and history) and Watters who like his namesake was wet.

And I still cannot believe they chose him over Plowden. I’m hoping Waters is lightning in a bottle and a spark off the bench. We could really use a consistent deep threat to keep spacing when Curry comes off the floor. I didn’t like how Heild was attacking close outs. He made everything more difficult for himself. But if he can be even an okay team defender, then he’ll be worth it to keep on the floor. Not the best performance from anyone other than Waters and Moody. Moody looked nice just as you predicted! But watch him get less minutes than Hield lol. Thanks for the breakdown!
