This team is full of hoopers and dogs. In hindsight, the Plowden decision was for his own good... he might have gotten buried in this depth. And at 26, he needs to get as much playing time as possible because it's now or never for his NBA career.

Vibes with this team just feel different. I'm glad you highlighted GP and the energy he brings to this squad. I remember when Steve would put him in for the last 15-20 seconds of a quarter just to get a stop. Really amazing to see his growth over the years even if it hasn't been distributed across different skills. Gary is Gary.

Bickerstaff took a timeout in the 4th and started laying into those guys til he had veins popping out and took another timeout because he wasn't done. Pop esque, I never saw the back2back timeout before in that fashion. They cut right back to commercial I kinda loved it. Feels like house money for him. It's not gonna be worse.

There's a reason why a lot of teams don't play fast -- because it's HARD. And it leads to turnovers. I expect the turnover numbers to stay high until this team starts to mesh and gets used to playing together.

I feel like the team is currently less than the sum of its parts. A lot of players looking really promising individually - just need to get it clicking.
I’m glad the season starts off relatively weak. If the team can rack up some W’s while it figures things out, we could be looking at a whole new outlook come November.

Love GP. My kid would call that rizz. Not sure how much he'll contribute on the court this year, but as you say he brings a lot off the court. Teaching these young boys game in more than one way.

I love GP lightening the mood in practice but sometimes he's a little light headed when he plays, kind of out there in his own world trying to look cute. But if he can hit the corner 3 consistently and play his crazy good D I'll put up with the clowning and him not knowing what he's doing sometimes..

I went to this one. The QP celli was blowing the crowd a garbage time kiss. Made us laugh for sure, embarrassing for him! The he proceeded to heat check himself into 1 for 3 before Kerr pulled him. He certainly looks a lot more athletic in person.
Saw a budding bromance between JK and Hield. (JK neglecting his defence to make sure he got dapped up after an assist)
Saw Podz acting like a vet between plays, coaching the other players.
Waters is legit.
Overall seems like a better vibe team than the past couple years!

Not too concerned long-term with Kuminga defensively. Believe with consistent on-court minutes and getting to know the tendencies of his West Coast opponents he'll continue to develop.
But looking back to that window two years ago of the "promising All-NBA defender" we were all excited about: if my memory serves, there were two games where we all got a little ahead of ourselves on where he was defensively, 1. Boston 2. New Orleans. JK looked fantastic on an island against Tatum and B.I. But as we've seen in Fiba last year for Ingram and consistently with Tatum, they sometimes take themselves out of games mentally. The distance between who they are when their pistons are firing and not is night and day.
JK had several possessions against these two premium wings and we attributed it to a future All-NBA defender. When it could've had more to do with B.I. and Tatum rather than Jonathan.

with all the scoring we have now and wiggins basically able to attack the basket reasonably well, kuminga may well need to be replaced with wiggins in the starting lineup.

Is JK D passing your eye test though? Still not playing .5 ball, but nice shot improvement is gonna open up his paint game.
Melton impact gonna land him at starting 2 unless they move Wiggs there for JK @ 3.

All I have to say is, Lauri Markkanen who? So glad we didn't ship off a ton of assets for one guy. Looks like Dunleavy might be good at his job! The depth on this team makes me think this season could be fun!!

True, re Klay last year. But yo be fair, it was the combo with him, CP3 and Wiggins that was so bad. Having three guys in the lineup who seemed to be getting politics minutes was soul sucking.

I feel look someone needs to tell JK, “forget fouls, forget team defense, forget where you want the guy to go etc…just don’t let your guy go past you. However you want to do it.” I think athleticism and instincts would serve him better than whatever it is he’s trying to do now.

Klay getting minutes when he was playing like ish hurt the chemistry. I hope Kerr doesn’t make the same mistake with Wiggins. He should have to outplay JK and MM to get his minutes. His D is a little better than JK, but Melton, not Wiggins should be primary defender against lead guards.

I dont remember what season it was but I remember one game vs. the Mavs where we put Kuminga exclusively on an island on Luka and he actually clamped him. Bothered him on every possession, got a couple steals if I remember correctly, and just was exactly the type of physical defensive bully that we all know he CAN be.
Til this day, I've never seen him replicate that type of energy and defensive focus and its pretty sad. This dude has every tool in the book to be Kawhi Leonard 2.0. But it appears he only really cares about the offensive half of that.

I remember 2 years ago (the title defense season) Kuminga got some extended run with GP2 gone and Wiggins missing time as the POA defender and impressed. Idk how defensive instincts can decline but maybe since he doesn't feel the need to defend to get on the court, or he's just more of an offensive minded guy and it's hard for him to balance effort on both ends. Either way makes it frustrating knowing we've seen high level defense from him before.

I was hoping Kerr would give Post more minutes in this pre season, especially against the Pistons. Him playing with 7 minutes left in these games doesn’t show us much

THANK YOU FOR LEAVING, KLAY!! 🩷💜💙
What depth on this team! No media at nat’l level is even noticing. Good. They do best when underestimated. If Bron/AD play this week we’ll get a better look at how the style holds up vs. bigger challenges.
Kerr’s got a great problem on his hands figuring out the roster/lineups. I’m just so thrilled to see them having fun again. That’s ALWAYS been the key with this era of Warriors basketball. It’s been too long since I had fun watching. Hallelujah!

I'm still concerned with what JK is doing defensively. The angles he's taking, and the whole "stay ready so you aint have to get ready" is ringing very true with him, in that he constantly is NOT READY to defend.
Tobias Harris has been a pretty consistent scorer in this league, but I would expect him to be exactly the type of guy that you can put Kuminga on and slow him down or at least make his day difficult.
Kuminga clearly made HUGE strides with shooting the 3, which is awesome. But did it come at the cost of him not doing any work on the defensive end?
Maybe he wont need to defend as much this year, but I still think that the true ceiling of this team truly rests on the defense of Wiggins + Kuminga FIRST, and then their offense, with Steph being the obvious baseline.
If we are putting Kuminga on guys like Harris, Derozan, and maybe Luka at some point, and he just gets constantly worked or in foul trouble, his offense is neutralized.
All that being said, the entire squad is very promising right now. Granted, its the Pistons, so I cant be too impressed. But Im loving the Melton and Buddy signings, so long as they stay healthy and playing good team defense.
The little 2-man chemistry between Melton and TJD is nice.
Seeing Looney actually look for offense is really cool.
If we all stay healthy this year, and Kerr doesnt get obsessed with fucking about for the first 30 games of the season, I think we have a real shot to be a Western contender again. I pray I dont backfire on my own optimism lol.

I like our squad a lot this year. Looking forward to how Wiggins looks this year, to me it’s a make or break year for him more so than kuminga or anyone else. If he is not going to go back to 22’ Wiggins then he has no place on this team

One more point on Jaden Ivey. What makes his footwork and just overall game even more frustrating is his mom is the head coach for Purdue if I remember correctly. How you can have that poor of footwork when your parent is a HEAD COACH is beyond me
