Did you hear Halliburton’s emphatic declaration that Buddy is the greatest three point shooter in the history of the game that can’t set a screen? He said he would never, never take advice from Buddy on setting a screen. Does Kerr not know this?

Irritated Inanimate

I laughed out loud at this 🤣🤣🤣

Shantel

It feels like this team has no advantages. Not faster, not more athletic, they dont hustle more, not a better 3pt shooting team, not bigger, not better iso scorers. Where tf are the advantages Kerr/Lacob?

Andre Brooks

That’s how it always goes!

Irritated Inanimate

Neither Buddy nor Lindy are Klay, but I see both of them working hard to compensate, not be Klay, just to be better versions of themselves. Fingers crossed for both of them.

Irritated Inanimate

I remember him saying that. I took it to mean something like, “if we have no chance at 5 or 6 seed, not worth the effort” which is hard to argue with (and goes to my point about the hunger not being there), I’m just not sure at what point in the season he decides definitively he’s done. My guess is that if he thinks they can get 30-31 wins from this point, they might still be in it. He’s older, he’s got his four rings, he’s been working hard for over a decade, and now he’s in pain all the time and he can’t perform exactly the way he wants to. When there’s a fundamental issue with someone’s motivation, it doesn’t matter how much they say they want it. I say the same about Zion, his why isn’t strong enough to motivate himself to get right. He just got suspended for showing up late. He may have had a good reason, but it doesn’t sound like his team thought it was good enough. You can’t want to help the person to change more than the person wants to themselves, it doesn’t work. I really dislike the language used by Kerr, but also Steph and Dray to a lesser extent. Steph and Dray are more careful to include themselves when they discuss their disappointment in the team. Kerr has been more judgmental and his mea culpas don’t seem genuine. I know Steph and Dray are at a different level and Steph is the main attraction, but your team is your team, you can’t separate their performance from yours, especially if you are just as big a part of the problem. Either everyone gets there together or no one gets there at all. Disappointed because I can see that Draymond’s mindset has fundamentally changed. When he talked about how many All Defense teams CP3 has made at the beginning of the year and how he was thinking that he needs to get to work for his accolades, that struck me as a fundamental motivation for Draymond because even if they couldn’t win a championship, that accolade would mean something to him. And I definitely see the effort and energy, even though there are still shenanigans. But I think the effort for all of this is way more than he realized it would be for him. He and Steph are slowing down much faster than they thought they would, they thought they would be able to make up the difference between themselves and the team and they really don’t know how to solve the problem because they can’t solve it in the same way they usually did. Putting in more effort will actually make it impossible to play later in the season.

Irritated Inanimate

Also Steph and Dray have not bought in that this team can win a chip. I remember Draymond saying when we did not make the playoffs saying something to the effect that the team was not a chip quality team so it made no sense winning to get into the playoffs to get bounced. I believe he said something like, "I rather not be in the playoffs at all thank bebthere and cant compete." If those two don't believe, we can bring in Gannis and it would not make a difference.

Dale Happy Knowles

Buddybhas never learned to play atb80% because he has always frome day 1, been playing to be recognized and accepted just like most of GSW bench. The Dubs plays full speed all the time because Kerr told them to if they want to win a slot in the rotation. 👀 I agree with Alc that Buddy has no NBA championship experience but such should be taken into consideration and he coached up to that which should not be as hard as some of the others because he has NCAA Chip experience while at Oklahoma. This team is being terribly coached considering the quality of coaching staff. I struggle to believe it's by directive but all other rational are falling away. 4 guard line ups with the game on the line????

Dale Happy Knowles

The correct motivation for this team is the one they had at the beginning of the season: focus on teamwork, focus on camaraderie, enjoying the vibes and the chemistry, everyone do what they do best and the Warriors are happy to have you here, we’re all going to be great together! It’s ironic that they are underestimating the power of the mental aspect since they have traditionally been so aware of it. I’ve been watching the Santa Cruz Warriors games at the same time and the difference between the two teams in terms of teamwork and execution of defense and offense is remarkable. It’s a bit of an exaggeration, but you could see our G league team actually being able to give OKC a run for their money! Given that Podz, TJD, Spencer, Gui, and Post all played in the G league over the last year, it does not surprise me at all that they all do very well initially on the pro team, but that that spirit and play gets diminished the longer they play with the main team. Maybe Kerr needs to switch places with his son? Or maybe Steph and Dray need to with the G league team to get a better perspective on where the younger players are coming from and why the younger team appears to perform better as a team. If Steph and Dray continue to sit games out due to injury, then the entire team play and strategy needs to be retuned anyway to maximize the rest of the team. It makes no sense to optimize for 5 players on a team of 15-18 people.

Irritated Inanimate

Someone else (unsure who or where, could have been you) brought up that they think the Warriors are trying to motivate the younger players by reiterating that 5th ring for Steph. That’s the wrong motivation for this team, not because they don’t want to do that, but because most of them do not have playoff or championship experience and it puts too much pressure on them to perform at a level they are not even familiar with. The younger players are literally just playing harder occasionally because they have no idea what else to do and it’s backfiring. Meanwhile, Kerr, Steph, Dray, Wiggs, GP II, Looney all have multiple playoff experiences, so they collectively know that they play at maybe 80% for most of the season, try to hit their most productive and proficient range as close to the end of the season as possible, then go into playoff mode.

Irritated Inanimate

Given our luck, his knee explodes the moment we trade for him. Just spontaneously combusts the moment Chams breaks the news.

Neal X

Or Jonas because it cost Dubs less. Neither is GSW answer so don't delay, get him and salvagebyour season then hit the draft/FA in heavy the off season. Right now we have too many players playing out of position or terrible match up against key teams we have to compete with.

Dale Happy Knowles

GSW has not innovated since the Splash Brothers enabled the motion offense. We don't have Splash Brothers no more but Kerr seem to think he can use multiple players to duplicate. That's insane. There is only one Klay and only one Klay/Steph combo. Kerr needs to change his system and we saw flashes of that adjustment in the first 15 then it seems Terry and Stack fingerprints disappeared.

Dale Happy Knowles

The challenge right now besides the normal is both Wiggs and JK are out. They are significant components for Dennis style to be effective. Nets had depth at Cam and Finley positions we dont. Too many guards

Dale Happy Knowles

"When a team isn’t performing, look to the leader first. A leader's job is to create the conditions for success." – Jocko Willink You know we can be as emotional as we wish, blaming or pointing out deficienies of different players from game to game as reasons for the record but matter what, unless he is being directed to tank which raises different question, the capacity of how any one or multiple players perform is a function which directly falls on Kerrs shoulders. It is Kerr's primary job to design and create the enviornment for maximum success and that not happening. Kerr is not creating such an environment or condition for success. What is our maximum success we may ask? We don't know but for this team, the bar has been set by the first 15 odd games. Besides Melton, the talent available and thus individual capacity has been the same. I suggest the difference between the first 15 performance and after is simply one of BELIEF. Sure the difference 1. Dennis a more traditional PG and 2. Melton a more traditional SG. This difference calls for adjustments for an adjustments or we traded for the wrong skill set and wasting Dennis strengths. I believe this is a plus trade even if Melton was still playing as we need another ball handler more so than the need to replace Melton so technically the Dubs should be better. Why not? Because the trade did not happen when Melton first got hurt and the team was allowed to deflate to flat before making the trade and inserting Dennis is a pick and roll dominant player

Dale Happy Knowles

Pat's a hooper.

Ken

Hilarious breakdown, love the small comments. Full package down there was absolutely a pause on Gui

Emigdio Alvarez

Exactly 💯

Highway Jay

Seems like any player besides Steph trying to get their own gets criticized by Kerr now they're all indecisive just my thought but we need new coaching

Highway Jay

Losing track of how you've deployed your personnel is another sign of a bad coach.

Point Gawd

I don’t know if you talked about this already, Alch, but what position would Podz have been drafted in in 2024-2025 draft?

Irritated Inanimate

Not enough of those players in the league and they can’t afford them anyway

Irritated Inanimate

It’s the system it doesn’t fit with Dennis style of play Kerr loves motion and splits that’s why our offense sucks

Jeffery Rosario

You just need to bring in ultra specific system players for Kerr. He either refuses or doesn't know how to utilize anyone else. Don't know which of those is worse tbh.

Vulacior

This

John Z

So interesting. I need to go back and rewatch the Olympics because i swear i remember DS being a more aggressive / faster player. Wonder if that’s just FIBA rules that he’s more comfortable in

Elvis

Warriors use stuff like this as a selling point to free agents, you can’t guarantee Wiggs wouldn’t have been distracted because he wasn’t with his partner. Wiggs has clearly demonstrated he can be distracted by his personal life, not that it’s a bad thing, but the team has to manage accordingly.

Irritated Inanimate

I thought it myself when they went head to head. More pull ups and fade aways, Spencer!

Irritated Inanimate

Anyone remember Draymond and Kerr saying the team needs to adapt to Schröder when he first came in?

Irritated Inanimate

Totally agree.

Irritated Inanimate

While in the moment I understand the frustration with Dennis. The way he hesitates is to me something pretty widespread across the almost the whole team. Dennis isn't in a situation where he is able to play his comfortable pick and roll game because the team doesn't run it very often and they lack any really good pick and roll partners for him. So yes in the big picture he may not be the best fit, but we'd flip him at our peril you ask me, there aren't too many other options around the league. Frankly the system is broken and so long as Steph, Dray and Kerr are here it won't matter too much who you bring in to try and fit around them.

Alasdair Macdonald

This Moody situation getting dire. I can't believe they paid the man his money. As for Schroeder, that's what he does. He slows it down. In the vein of CP3, but yea, that's not our system. We do 5-point bball, move it quick. He doesn't and the change of pace just leads to a home run the other way.

Gary

Pat Spencer TJ Mcconnell comp???

Ballin Forever

More Pat Spencer please. Outside of him being a good all-around player.. i love his demeanor on the court... No BS. Love the pace he plays at. I wonder if Moody "knee tendonitis" is the medical staff understanding he is about to be traded so they are making sure he passes the physical lmao. Just a thought.

Ballin Forever

I know times have changed and Wiggins is a pampered millionaire athlete. But go to work. I was born at the same hospital my dad worked at. He came to see me on his break then went back to work. No one paid to see him be a janitor. People are paying to see Wiggins play basketball.

Goku44

Yes, but only in the most supportive way

Irritated Inanimate

The idea of Bpodz with a low caesar and slashes in the eyebrows had me in tears

James arnoth

Bro that Whitlock clip is one of the funniest things ive ever seen. Made it wayyy to obvious he tried to get a peice and got shaded lol

Andrew

Jason Whitlock is crazy tho lmao

Static2Fresh

We always talk about the game slowing down for a young player. With Spencer, it looks like he’s going faster. Like he’s realizing that he can play at NBA pace,

chris kiely

Once again, highly entertaining! Podz looked like he rolled out of bed, but there’s no explanation of that hair that ends in admiration, that shit’s crazy. How the hell is it still wet looking and elongated at the end of every game? Agree about Schröder not taking advantage of the advantages, that has been a huge problem with this team since almost the beginning of the season. But I’ve always read it as Kerr telling them to slow down, take their time, look for the perfect shot. Sometimes the perfect shot is just beating your man, even if it’s just barely! I wouldn’t be surprised if Schröder feels like he’s getting mixed messages from Kerr. I forgot about this, but Schröder playing the end of the Pistons game so egregiously looked like one of two things to me 1) he’s changed his mind and wants out of GSW or 2) he has a legitimate tactic for doing it and Kerr assumed he would do “the right thing,” but Kerr actually never reviewed the end of game strategy with the team. Either way, not good news for GSW. I didn’t hate Buddy taking those shots either, it looks like he’s been told about that 9-0 stat when he scores at least 18 points. The team is trying to get him going early, it just worked better against the Pistons than it did here. Didn’t love it, but couldn’t hate it. More holes in Kerr and development coaching. Pretty sure the next successful coach for GSW is going to Joe Mazzulla/Ime Udoka level.

Irritated Inanimate

Post needs to be given a shot. The pick and pop with Dennis opened the paint. That would do wonders for Kuminga and Wiggins. Defensively, he seems better compared to the preseason. Also, he needed more minutes last night. Getting 6 minutes is ridiculous when the team is so depleted. They should be trying to see what they have.

Edy

Fantastic breakdown

joss gitlin

So much is chemistry and reading each other, and Shröder isn’t there yet with vets, let alone the bench. I didn’t notice his speed on either end. Pat has more game than I realized, including a sweet jumper. When do Dubs Pod Punks pounce? A week of winds here in LA, so let’s be good to each other, not fall for the political gotcha BS!

Chip Tingle

Feels like a no brainer, low risk move to see what Post looks like with some of the top of the roster.

Mitch Coob

That is bull tho, how do you not know. Steve Kerr played everyone in a uniform 14+ minutes except for Post. Im really starting to lose faith in Kerr as a coach. It may be time for a new voice to lead the team

Kahlil Baker

you think Steve is a control freak behind the scenes?

Athletic Alchemy

“Elite fruit loop” has me weakkk

TJ Maccc

I would still go for Vuc AND play Quentin more…

Nsikan Usen

yeah Lonzo has always been a Warrior style guy

Athletic Alchemy

nah its super annoying.. I think Kerr loses sight of min in game tbh.. you can tell in some post games he doesn't realize how they were distributed until after

Athletic Alchemy

"elite froot loop" "lingering like a fart in a car on a rainy day" these are insane bro 😂😂😂 I agree about Schroeder's style, but this is a Kerr thing. We got 17 guys injured and out, he's gotta coach Schroeder to be the leader. He's a vet and he's brand new to the system, Kerr has gotta stand up, TAP IN with his best available player and use what he has to try and get a win. Put new players around him to succeed on shitty back to back situation, just for one night. We claim to be this innovative organization, but all our experimentation is only happening on the margins. It's not experimentation that could lead to an actual breakthrough when we're treading water. Try some shit Kerr!

yan't get right

If we had lonzo instead of dennis our pace would be so much better.

Ranvir

The way you was cooking Moody had me weak, I'm always rooting for him but damn

MaxShade18

The whole Quentin Post thing. He deserves a shot, if he can play well we may be able to make other trades rather than going for Vucivec. Steve only gave him 6 minutes in a game we weren’t going to win and it’s just ridiculous! How do you play Podz 30 minutes a game but don’t give our young big more time after proving himself as a scorer in the g league.
