Warriors vs Lakers GM-45

Comments

fricken hate the lakers

Rory Noone

BBIQ is a function of baseline ability and familiarity. As lottery picks JK and Moody have baseline ability. As we are seeing, as some of us knew 3 years ago, all they needed was time on the court. And not you're telling me Moody and Kuminga lacked effort? I find that claim unsustainable. Maybe in year 3, after seeing the double-standards of the coach and realizing no amount of effort was going to supplant . . . ANTHONY LAMB and TY JEROME! Wouldn't your effort flag after seeing your teammate repeatedly screw up and stay on the court, while having the coach sit you for whole strings of games at the slightest miscue? . . . Any lack of effort in such a case reflects on the coach's mismanagement, not the player.

Point Gawd

Kerr 100% values effort and bball IQ over everything else. Which Kuminga (who plays a different position) and Moody lacked a lot. They were playing critical minutes in finals games, if you remember.

Logan Malpass

Ash what are you talking about, I clearly linked a play where moody doesn't pass to an open Podz

Logan Malpass

Not much to add -he said I did like seeing Quentin Post play as well as a much better Podz be productive. I’m now watching for the future. 60% chance no trade happens at all.

Paul Hanson

It’s so infuriating how Steve doubles down on these decisions! What is he seeing that we don’t? He just seems stubborn and arrogant. Buddy has a turnover for every f-ing shot made. So many wasted possessions… Oh wait, I’m forgetting the reckless fouls, excuse me.

deb m.

Apologizing for a mistake makes a difference IF you stop making that mistake. But Kerr didn't stop making that mistake. Had this years injuries not happened, forcing Kerr to play Moody regular enough minutes to get into a rhythm and relax knowing one mistake won't send him to the bench for 10 games, some people would still be saying Moody sucks, Moody never passes, Moody can't play D. No credit for apologizing and then doing it again . . . and again . . . and again.

Point Gawd

Alc I hear you on Buddy and yes he deserves some of the chapping but when are we going to address the core of the problem. Buddy and the others glaring deficiencies is due to the poor play calling, coaching and fall off of those who suppose to be elite defenders. Wiggens has been horrible relatively speaking to his ceiling on D. The Lakers game seem to be his worse for the season as they smoked him every single time. We asking Buddy and other non great defenders to be great but not calling out great defenders who are not performing because their Offense may be above their average. Wiggs is too light not just in pounds but in "weight". He is very soft and I dont mean like LBJ cry baby manly soft. Dray is hurting so someone has to step into that man role. That should be TJD but we see that ain't the case yet. Put Dray on the bench to save him for post season and trade for Jonas (Slow Mo/Moses) and ride Gui and Post to accelerate their potential. Note neither of the Moos are in Kerr radar. The guards play will be much better when we improve the bigs first. As I said before when you over play Buddy min per gm, it hurts his shot. Kerr need to tell him just go in an score and not worry about D. But more importantly, why not send Kerr to the G league for 5 games. He has been absolutely an embarrassment. 3 and 4 guard line ups loosing games when he had Post, Gui ans Sliw Mo not Bing used. Hmmm!

Dale Happy Knowles

I could only watch 2nd half yesterday, and a lot of the Lakers’ lead and separation in the 3rd is on Steph on both ends. Old legs in the 3rd game over 4 nights led to missed shots and bad D for multiple possessions. I’m guessing the thumb is still a factor, too. Will Steph be rested more often, especially B2B’s? Will Steph get the hook when gassed? A team with no other strong options.

Chip Tingle

I didn’t say he was faultless, but I do think he has guts. He also apologised for benching Moody immediately after the game, owning his mistake. Handling a hall of famer in decline does not seem easy, Bob Myers didn’t seem to fancy it, maybe he’s the gutless one?

Stephen Jones

Its hard to lead the team when one mistake and you get benched. That's what happened to JK and Moody and did NOT happen to Podz. So, I ask you, how well would Steph play, and how many categories would Steph lead the team (much less the league) if one turnover or one missed defensive rotation and then ride the pine for 5 games?

Point Gawd

Bro, you forgot I said Poole got opportunity ONLY because of injuries.

Point Gawd

Kerr sat Klay for a rookie . . . after benching a hot Moody for Klay and costing the Dubs a game. Kerr gets no credit for having multiple double standards.

Point Gawd

Yeah but I think that's mostly due to JV being on the Wizards. A trade him to a winning team may help him.

Nick Elliston

In his 1st season Podz led the team in +/- whilst providing playmaking and rebounding that have been difficult to extract from JK or Moody for 3/4yrs. Even this year he’s 3rd despite all the hate. It’s only one stat, but I’m not sure Moody leads the team in anything useful?

Stephen Jones

Head coach does not teach skill, head coach develops character and teaches to play the right way, however he understands that.

Ivan

Kerr sat Klay for a rookie, so…

Stephen Jones

trade 30?

Ivan

Bro, have you forgot, Poole was our tank commander! He made almost every possible mistake his first year with little consequence.

Ivan

Jonas has like 30 extra pounds since his Pelicans days.

Ivan

We've both not seen them playing in live games for a long time. :-)

Point Gawd

Draymond you already got your contract, why continue to glaze LeBron all the time 😭

Robert

He’s ass. Phoenix are even having a very hard time getting rid of him.

Ash

The timestamp you mentioned shows Podz not passing to Moody. In fact I’ve seen that play out multiple times this year and last season too. Podz has no interest helping out moody even when he’s wide open. He knows Kerr hates him and so limiting his shots plays right into his hand

Ash

I wanted to see more gui, steph and post minutes to close it out. this game was winnable.

broodje met beleg

I disagree. Kerr didn’t trade for him. Kerr could play him less maybe, but then again there is only one other bench movement shooter on the roster. Overall, there are just so many holes in the offensive strategy and roster that we have to rely on making 3s. So from that perspective we’re really just praying to be hot from 3 every game.

Andre Brooks

Buddy is embarrassing himself out there. It is on Kerr, Kerr is trash, no guts to sit vets. And it makes me think Lacob is not the owner he once was. This team is not competing for championships, so just move on to the youth. And I am 100% Kerr cannot coach a young team. He has only shooting skills and has not much other skills to teach the young guys.

Natto Santo

Correct, the anger should be with Kerr for being so insanely faithful to him as if he brought us rings and deserves it.

Dr. Sanjin

4 guards lineups should be a non-option

John Z

Nothing you can do there. If he dribbles, he’s gotta take it to the cup or pass the ball and not take a jumper

Edy

Lmao you were killing those transitions though my guy

yan't get right

The most frustrating part of this game was how many wide open corner threes we gave them. We already know AD, Bron and Reaves are gonna get theirs but to give up the corner shots to their role players was the back breaker imo. Also, I think I’ve said this in each of my last three comments on your breakdowns but Gui and Post absolutely need to play 25+ mpg at the very least.

Mitch Coob

The official stats were that Clyde was 1" taller. It seemed more than that. He had really wide shoulders, though, and I think his frame was bigger. He was a little heavier, but not by much. I think Clyde was faster, end to end. He was famous for grabbing a rebound and dunking on the other end. You could count on that 1 or 2 times a game. I give Jordan a huge mental edge, but Drexler a slight physical edge. Just my opinion, and given the years since I watched these 2 live, I could be wrong.

e40

I think Jordan had it over Clyde physically as well.

Point Gawd

Dray was looking at Bron like he was a piece of barbecue chicken..

TJ Maccc

I'm not saying Kerr is racist. But Kerr does live on planet earth. And race can have complex and subtle effects. ONE subtle effect of race is how much it takes to develop trust. It has been clear that Kerr has been VERY slow to develop trust in JK and Moody, but he has basically trusted Podz from day one. Interesting. And that has been reflected in how many mistakes a player can make before benching. For JK and Moody it was 1. For Podz it seems infinite. . . . ANOTHER subtle effect of race is "Seeing yourself in another person." Kerr was the 50th pick in the '88 draft, and was a (relatively) short thin white dude playing in a mostly black league. Podz is a nonlottery pick, and is a (relatively) short thin white dude playing in a mostly black league. You don't think that can make a difference, SUBCONCIOUSLY, in how many chances to screw up Kerr will give Podz versus, say, Moody or JK, before getting benched? (NOTE: Poole was a (relatively) short thin black dude playing in a mostly black league, and he didn't get any chances until the team was ravaged with injuries--just like Moody now.) . . . If Kerr has found the secret sauce for race to have no effect on his comfort level, then forget that the last few seasons would have gone VERY differently, we need Kerr of the court and in the Oval Office! . . . Does the ability to explain Kerr's patterns by considering how race may be mattering make Kerr racist? Not really, not in my view. But it does make him human. You disagree?

Point Gawd

I’m so tired of changing starting line up and line up changes… just can’t handle the opportunity for some and not for others. Buddy min vs someone like Moody or Gui… I get injuries but I mean it’s so frustrating watching idiocy on the court and by those in the coaching staff. This felt like a winnable game but obviously injures have piled up. It’s getting to the point where we don’t know what direction to go bc we either get an insane steph game or a stinker. Can’t tell if we’re marketing our guys or just have blinded faith in them and they ultimately never show up when we need them the most. Need a direction bc this team is getting hard to watch…

Ben D

JK is the only player you mentioned that could command the max… And are you implying that Kerr is racist? I think the only reason Podz has had the lengthy leash he does is cause of his constant effort on both ends and potential to be a facilitator since he had been the better ball handler out of the 3… I will say thou, Kuminga’s handle has improved a lot and his ability to pass is lowkey the best of this team…

Nsikan Usen

That salt n pepper beard looks nutsss on Draymond 🤣🤣🤣 he gotta dye that shit ngl.

Nsikan Usen

Hit reset, fuck it. I'm ready for Captain Kuminga to take over the ship.

Vulacior

Im not mad at Buddy for being exactly what he's always been.

Andre Brooks

Indeed so disgusting it turns you away from the NBA in general. disgrace

Alex Kay

I just boycott Laker games. I want to see a fair competition, whoever wins. Its nauseating watching games with the Lakers, so I just skip them. Even if they make the Finals.

Point Gawd

You may be right. I hadn't noticed. But that's what can happen when a coach lets one player play through mistakes while others were yanked to the bench and sat for 2, 4, 8, 10 games when they made comparable mistakes. When Podz comes up for an extension next year, you think he's gonna command a max? 'Cause that's what we are talking about, a CHANCE to earn your max. Coach Kerr robbed JK of that chance, and Moody saw it also and was also similarly victimized. Then throw in the race issue, which means JK and Moody can expect that EVEN if they and Podz perform the same, Podz is the one more likely to be in the running for endorsements and so forth. When a coach plays favorites, it is no way to develop one-on-one trust or build a team. So, IF some players are freezing Podz out, its not the fault of Podz, it is the fault of Kerr.

Point Gawd

If this was before he broke his leg during the 18-19 season I'd agree. He's still an underrated passer and screen setter, but unfortunately he just doesn't move very well defensively, and his finishing leaves a lot to be desired. Not surprising he got benched in Phoenix. If they do want to trade for a C not named Vucevic, I'd rather go with Jonas Valanciunas. Pretty similar to Nurkic except he's a better post scorer, can accept a bench role, and he makes much less than Nurkic.

Nick Elliston

Nurkic is available. Stotts knows him very well.

Ivan

At his age we can't rely on Steph on a nightly basis and it's become clear it no longer makes sense to trade the future for a 2nd star (regardless of how confident you are in the front office and their ability to draft.) It's time to lean into the youth and fully empower them. Have a real conversation with Steph and ask him if he wants to be moved for a chance to win another one. Because it's not happening here

Branden Edwards

Hey Alch, have you noticed that Moody and ( and Kuminga when hes on the court) are hesitant to pass the ball to Podz? Initially i thought it was them just being a bit ball hoggish, but they just seem much less willing to pass to him even when hes open. The example at 4:20 is something I have noticed time and again all year. I am wondering if i am the only one to notice this.

Logan Malpass

I just hope Kerr gets replaced. Kerr leaves Looney and Trayce in the game too long. Both are uncoordinated for NBA players. They can't shoot at all. They can rebound and that's about it. But Kerr, here's a thought. Why don't you try playing Post and either Looney or Trayce at same time. At least it would give your line-up some size. When Lakers have Lebron and AD playing at same time, they just kill the Warriors who have that small line-up. At least play, Santos in the 4th quarter, who is fast and physical. Instead, Kerr goes back to Bafoon Hield.

Evets79

The whole season will be a mix of curry going off and bench going cold or vice versa. Hoping that changes with the emergence of Gui and QP but it’s hard to see that happening

AJ Mercado

Damn, I was doing a good job taking the loss in stride until that last ten seconds of the video 🤣🤦🏿‍♂️

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Lakers oughta be ashamed of themselves.. they should be a top 3 seed with a whistle like that. That was some of the wildest shit ive seen in a while.

Ballin Forever

We should start Post. Ive seen enough. Take him out of the game if he starts getting cooked on the perimeter. But lets be real.. AD is one of 3 or 4 bigs that can score like that. AD Embiid Jokic maybe Kat. Post will not have these issues against most teams. We need to start games with offensive firepower and then sub in the defense with TJD or Loon. I cant wait until Buddy is off this team and cant wait until Kuminga returns.

Ballin Forever

This team has always closed out like that, it’s like they don’t know what the rest of the NBA is looking for in terms of shots

Sarcasm 360

against this team, we cant play 3 guard lineups, especially w bron n ad out there. we just didnt shoot well enough to win n execute well enough defensively to win. Also, that laker whistle is reallllll. Reeves jumps backwards into wiggs its a and 1 smh.

JW

Could you replay the LeBron over the back on Schröder? That was some reffing insanity.

BruceWayne

What do we do about the C&S plays where he stops to take a dribble because he’s in his own head?

BruceWayne

Post requested to go out b/c he was gassed.

Sevrin Weiss

Post asked to come out after the three. Mans was gassed so I’m not blaming Kerr for that. But I’m watching the YouTube video and unc answered everything.

Kahlil Baker

The young guys are playing well. Podz found his groove a week before the injury and has picked up where he left off. He needs to play over Buddy. Also, if he does keep playing, they need to run plays for him where he does a c&s threes. He’s 91/221 (41.2%) on c&s and 24/93 (25.8%) when he takes at least 1 dribble. Everyone else was alright, nothing particularly special. I do have some criticism for Dennis and Steph though. They need to stop trying to thread the needle for the roll man. Those turnovers are leading to transition buckets and are killing them. Also, Steve needs to stop playing 3+ guard lineups, especially against the lakers who are all taller players. I would’ve liked to see some minutes with Post and TJD both on the floor to counteract the two man game with AD and LeBron. This would’ve also gave us a lob threat and a stretch big to space the floor, a pick your poison set up.

Edy

Great point about Kerr tending to go to the small lineups because the roster lacks high IQ bigs. Aside from Draymond and Loon, the roster has lacked bigs that can make the right pass, set screens and execute the game plan the way Kerr wants. Looking back, the bigs that have done well with the Dubs are the international bigs like Bogut, Zaza, Bjelica, etc. Problem is that it's been difficult to find those guys at an affordable salary. Of course, there are flops like Smiley and Saric, but hopefully they start to find guys like Post and Gui more often going forward.

Nick Elliston

Gotta show confidence in your vets. 🤦‍♂️ And bench your shooting 5 for making a “bad” 3. His rant after the Minnesota win showed Kerr’s thoughts about how the team should play.

BruceWayne

Also a classic example of mental strength dominating physical strength. With Clyde it was a mental domination that he just couldn't win. It was heartbreaking to watch in that Bulls/Blazers final. I'm pretty sure the infamous Jordan shrug came from that series.

e40

I didn’t see Steve standing up this one. Thought he could’ve managed it much better. At least yell at the refs for the phantom foul calls, dude. Show your guys you’ve got their backs.

deb m.

classic example of .. you'd be the man if it weren't for ...... like Steph and Dame lol

Athletic Alchemy

Man I hate Lakers and their bs whistle so so much man

Andrew Lee

I do not understand how Kerr can’t be sick of watching Buddy play like a fucking chicken with his head cut off! Buddy looks awful and the young guys are giving us so much more yet he leaves Buddy in and starts him. What is wrong with Kerr?! Why does he do this every year??

Kahlil Baker

good question.. its hard to say because we haven't got to really see the young guys out of it

Athletic Alchemy

They got a do something! Treat it as a sunken cost at this point

Athletic Alchemy

We should run the young players for both games.

BruceWayne

Draymond looks at number 23 and thinks it looks better in Lakers’ uniform

Ivan

Dats his Boo thang...

Jason Austin

How much blame do you place on our motion offense vs our roster? 20/80?

Vincent Zendejas

Kerr sat Post right after that 3. My reaction to that shot was that Kerr wasn’t going to like it, so I wasn’t surprised.

BruceWayne

Can we ship buddy out? I'd give up the next 20 first round picks to not see him on the floor in a dubs jersey anymore? Not onboard the ship gp train though, I just like watching him play too much (I know this is maybe not the best take but he makes the warriors more fun)

Murugu Venkat

Lebron is such a crybaby. What would the warriors look like with Steph and an all star, all nba power forward/center top 10 player?

Goku44

I loved Clyde the Glide. Man, Jordan owned his ass, though. He was too nice a guy, I think. He was so fun to watch, when Jordan wasn't on the court, especially in his Blazer days.

e40

Buddy is unplayable these days.

BruceWayne

This many guys hurt and we’re still playing 11 players, being bad doesn’t irk me but not moving in the right direction does, trades must happen, and remove Heild from Kerr please he’s the new Lamb/Joseph
