I do agree it’s probably more nervous system than a legitimately mental thing. It really looks like he just did too much back to back to back and he hasn’t given his body enough time to fully recover. He’s older now, the body does take a longer time to fully recover on some things to get back to optimal performance.
Whatever it is, everyone can see it. And Kerr has to make him sit or plan his longer stretches of rest more strategically if he wants to make it through the season.
It doesn’t matter if he thinks he can play, it will always be a matter of there is a hard stop somewhere if you don’t get enough rest. You can either stretch it out and do a little each game until you need to rest or you can empty the battery entirely over 3-4 games in a row, but once the battery is depleted, you need to wait the entire length of time until it’s fully charged again. You can’t mental your way through something like that, at his age, it’s not a mental block.
I said the same thing earlier this season when we noticed a similar situation and everyone thought Steph was depressed or something. No, his battery was on empty and can’t keep up with how far his brain is trying to push him physically, he was spending yo much energy physically and mentally.
And it will happen again and again. It’s a new thing and he has to figure out how to manage it.

If that happened to SGA or some other bigger guy, it would've been a foul. Immediately would've blown their whistle. Imagine having to put up with that bias your entire career.
Steph was somewhat in Psycho Steph mode since February. It's only in the past week something's different.

Play: “Gravity Switch”
Setup:
Steph – Right wing
Jimmy – Left mid-post
Kuminga – Top of the key
Buddy – Left corner
Post – Right elbow
---
Action Steps:
1. Steph sprints through a staggered double screen from Post and Kuminga, curling toward the top of the key.
2. Jimmy flashes to the nail, acting like he’s calling for an iso.
3. Steph draws the double on the curl, and immediately hits Buddy in the corner—if open, it’s an easy three.
4. If not, Buddy swings it to Jimmy, who now has an open elbow iso or kick out to Kuminga, who's cutting baseline behind the chaos.
5. Meanwhile, Post sets a blindside back screen for Kuminga, then rolls toward the rim for a lob or tip-in cleanup.
6. Steph relocates to the opposite wing—you blink, and he’s already open again.
---
Options Galore:
Buddy catch-and-shoot
Jimmy elbow fade or bully ball
Kuminga lob or dump off
Post cleanup or screen-reset
Steph relocation three

Interesting choice if words- Messy!
More like crocket as ....
It's a scripted business. Does it always plays out how they want it. No their are injuries, chess games and a high percentage of plain old bone heads like Gilbert Arenas who ain't about what is directed and go get theirs.
But remember it's a business and every so often the nba has to through disrupted in the front line so they can keep the High Rollers at bay.
Vegas always wins!

2025-03-22 09:23:27 +0000 UTC
When we first got Jimmy I thought they should implement the triangle. I believe they’ve been utilizing that in certain parts of the game. We put Jimmy at the low post in a triangle formation and he over powers a defender or kicks it out for an open 3. Or we get Dray posting in the mid-post baseline and Jimmy sets a pick for a curry 3. Or when Jimmy drives the baseline and hits someone at the corner. The ball is moving more from in to out, rather than side to side which increases the percentage of shooting 3s. As for Kuminga, patience as his timing really is off, many of his outside shots are released on the way down, some on purpose, some not…. Great vid Alch, you did Battle dirty 🤣

I agree, although gotta give Poole some credit: kid was a bucket down the stretch that year with Steph out. Our offense seems a little less explosive right now, as long as we can keep scoring well by committee and the youngsters play clutch ball, we'll be okay

I realized Two problems:
1. kuminga is too deliberate with his attck. When he tries to attack the rim or post up, everyone on the court knows what he's trying to do. He needs to be more deliberate.
2. Did Jimmy lose his miderange game? He used to be a midrange demon, know all he does is passing and attacking the rim

The long effect of small but chronic mental burdens can be largely unnoticed. Steph has spent years filling out his frame to not be a liability on defense, so maybe less focus on his back workouts. Not to mention that this is the first year in… 7 seasons(?) he’s had a reliable center - he’s always been pretty involved in those collapse-help situations because we haven’t had a footer, further taxing the body. And then the Olympics… he balled out but making those adjustments and playing through the summer was by no means a break from the regular/post-season. It’s probably no coincidence that the year he starts rolling the ankles again, he has back issues.
He should probably take the rest of the regular season off just to rehab, get right, and let the team find its rhythm on offense. If this team can’t do that, and even more so win off the back of its defense, it could be another early exit.
Dylan

Btw, Alch, today is Quentin Post’s 25th birthday (5 yrs of college). 🎂
For one of the newest guys to recognize a need for his team when they’re down, and then to have no compunction going directly to 19K fans for it? Unreal. We can call it whatever we want but I always feared that one day the disrespect shown to Steph by the NBA would materialize in a significant injury.
Steph is the only super if not mega star who don't get the whistle when he drives. Steph don't even get the FTAs what the average player get per drive.
We pray because he is generally very healthy he will recover quickly.
In the interim Kerr gat a eat crow and allow JK to be the beast he can be in carrying the load.

We couldve fucking sat him dude......obviously that shit can happen any game at any time. But like. There was just no need to be playing Steph man. He gets 1 game off as an exhausted 37 yo, but Kuminga gets to cruise around for 2.5 months????? Cmon man.
Clearly Im salty mostly because Steph is injured. Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise for the team to really find themselves in the "non-Steph" minutes. God knows they need it. Was it a foul or not? Who knows. Who cares. We all know the refs dont give a shit about Curry and actively call AGAINST him for the fun of it.
Now we just have to absolutely pray that Dray and Jimmy dont get hurt in ANY WAY. With how hard Draymond is playing and now with all the attention on Jimmy, Im genuinely concerned at the longevity of their current form.
For christs sake is this team not allowed a real PG for 2 seconds? We get Podz back to take the weight off Curry and IMMEDIATELY he goes down. Does this means more Pat Spencer minutes? Or maybe Gui plays a little PG? I have no idea lol.
Okay okay okay, sorry Ill stop complaining for a second lol.
The Dutch Delivery. The Tree with the Three. Quinten "Put some Respek on his name" Post!!! My god I wish I could just donate any of my muscle to him to get him stronger. This man is lethal and I love it. Even the mistakes he makes, theyre usually out of a good intention or effort. He's often a little too aggressive or eager sometimes, and body moves faster than he thinks. But as a rookie??? Im amazed at how good he is.
With Curry out as well, what do you think this does for Kuminga? Does he get even more ISO calls? I would hope so, even if it looks rough right now. We're gonna need that scoring bad.
I feel as if NBA media is ignoring Dray's campaign for DPOY right now. They definitely are paying attention to the Warriors because of their recent run, but its all been about Curry and Jimmy. Draymond somehow looks like he's found a second mini-prime. If Draymond was 6'10+, everyone would be talking about him. The fact that he's doing what he's doing at his size AND age right now is nothing short of incredible.
Its a damn shame that there isnt one more Cavs matchup this season. I'd really want to see a matchup between those two at full strength.
