2025-08-11 17:31:42 +0000 UTCStorm lost tonight, so Valks are up to the 7th seed now with the tiebreaker. If they beat the Sun, they’ll really move ahead. Great game all around. Felt like we really found our rhythm for the first time in a while, maybe even since before KT’s injury. For Plum, this game reminded me a lot of that late-season Warriors-Rockets game where Steph had only 3 points and all the boneheaded Rockets fans were loudly proclaiming that they’d found the one true “Curry Stopper.” Like how Curry then had a great series against them a few weeks later, I don’t think VB is the one true Plum stopper. I do think we caught her on an off night. But VB played STELLAR defense that pushed her into a ton of very tough shots. On a more normal night for Plum, she can make some of those shots. On an off night, she can’t. Charles finding herself above Kate, Kaitlyn, and LA on the depth chart is notable. I still think that they probably let her go. They can still sign her to one more 7-day, but I think that’ll be it. Martin’s one of only 2 players on contract for next year and she brings an absurd amount of money into the franchise, so she’s not going anywhere. Chen does the same and the teams holds exclusive rights to her and LA for next season. Despite the win-now mentality, I do think they’ll be thinking about the future and opt to keep the younger cost-controlled players. Maybe they bring Charles back next year though. She’s clearly a good fit.

I'm surprised tho because I've seen them play way more physical against other teams. I personally think that Plum-VB matchup is the key to everything this season. Outside of the very first game of the season VB just has Plum's number. She can't create the space she does against most other players and the passing and scoring are severely affected. I don't like to project what they can do but it seems like every big time game they show up. Now let's see if they can keep that energy against the next few teams with expectations to win. Go Valks
