Added 2022-07-20 19:23:26 +0000 UTCSorry, y’all know me, I’m TERRIBLE at taking WIP photos… I get in the crafting zone and I just straight up forget 😅 I’m a little behind on making content atm (after that AX grind AND recovering from COVID), so I’ve had this urge to just kinda rush through everything and go go go!! But I also have 2 new lovely assistants helping me out, so hopefully things will be running a bit smoother 🥰👍
I was able to print both of these katanas in one piece on my continuous 3D printer!! Never again will I have to suffer my prop swords splitting at the seams 😭🙏💕 The handles and the smaller details were resin printed. I prefer resin printing my handles because the weight of the solid resin helps offset the weight from the length of the filament katana! Whereas if it were entirely filament there would be a lot of strain where the handle and the blade connects (I’ve had a bunch of swords snap on me in the past) 💀
Most everything was painted by hand with acrylics! I did airbrush some highlights in here and there, but for the ROB especially, I wanted the texture of the congealed blood section to really pop!! It’s hard to tell but I custom mixed 5 different red colors to shade everything 👀
Also, my 3D modeler Spearmaster is the GOAT!! I absolutely HATE adding wraps to handles, they always fall apart on me and get dirty. So he went out of his way to model the wraps into the design so all I had to do it paint them, WHAT A HOMIE 😭💖 If y’all need a 3D model hit him up, he makes a good 90% of my stuff 👌

If its a small hole can you just remove that supports from that hole? I can only print in parts and print blades upright to make the layer lines cleaner. That continuous printer has to be awesome.
2022-07-21 19:27:34 +0000 UTCI do sometimes!! The only problem with the continuous printers is that its hard to remove the support material from the hole where the core rod should go 😅 So far I haven't needed one with this method though!
