German Philosophy: Schopenhauer and Nietzsche

Curious if you've ever heard of another pessimist philosopher named Philip Mainlander? He’s arguably even more radically pessimistic than Schopenhauer, yet he ironically has some very virtuous beliefs. He took Schopenhauer’s idea of a Will, but with a Hegelian twist. He pluralized the Will into individual wills that came to be from the origin of God, which was an all metaphysical unity, that shredded itself apart in its quest to annihilate itself. Hence, the universe is the rotting corpse of God and the our deaths are the goal of all existence. Yet, he was said to be a very kind soul in writing and in person and was even a self-identified communist with sympathy for suffering workers. Though he held positive views of the state and didn’t think revolution was necessary. It makes him unique among many other pessimist philosophers, who tended to rather reactionary. He unfortunately took his philosophy to the its final conclusion in his own suicide, yet I find him an endlessly fascinating obscure thinker in the history of philosophy and the contradictions in his pessimistic outlook of existence, yet his very apparent compassion for humanity. Cuck Philosophy has a great video on him if you want to know more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnJmA9_dkP0&t=1s
