Bret, what is the name of the episode of Taylor’s that you both reference when you discuss the Ukraine invasion? I’d like to listen to it.

From The River To The Sea 🇵🇸

I'm not a war apologist any more than I am a pacifist. All modern warfare devastates civilian populations. The decision to go to war is rarely justified. As a Canadian, I support our participation in WW2 and oppose our participation as combatants in every military conflict since then. During WW2 Canadian soldiers played a huge part in the liberation of Holland from the Nazis. This wasn't achieved without civilian casualties and the devastation of Dutch buildings/infrastructure on the part of the Canadian army - such a feat would have been impossible. Nevertheless, the Dutch send Canada a yearly gift of tulips in gratitude for the price Canadians paid in the liberation of their country. Being "hailed as liberators" has obviously been used for nefarious propaganda purposes since - mainly to "justify" unjustifiable US imperialist violence. Nevertheless, were I a regular citizen of the Ukraine I think I would view the Russian operation to denazify my country as liberation. I should be so lucky - nobody is coming to denazify Alberta. As for the Gray Zone, if you're unable to consume its content without it corrupting your mind or the minds of your youth, I think you're right - plug your ears. You do you.
