Makes sense. The original killer in the first Friday the 13th movie was Mrs Voorhees (Jason's mom) Who was on a quest to avenge her son's drowning. Which she blamed on the counsellors at lake Crystal. It wasn't until the sequel was made that Jason became the killer.
