Issue 4 is Out (for Patrons)

Hi All

Thanks again for the contined support! Issue 4 is out for you to download and print out.

I really didn't think I would get this issue out as I wasn't sure what was happening with my cancer diagnosis, but I found time during recovery from surgery. I will be starting chemo treatment next week, so I am unsure when the next issue will be out.

I will however, alway keep you all posted about what is happening.

In this issue you will find:

1. Easy rules on tracking spell components

2. How to augment spells using exotic components

3. An article on aging potions (with table!)

4. Three magical mishap tables for various campaign themes

5. An overview of a new campaign world: Bhakashal

6. A look at the town of Riverbend

And a few more surprises.

Also, and I am not sure why I didn't do this before, you have all been mentioned in the zine as supporters of it. Thanks again for all your support - I really appreciate it.

And as always, happy gaming!

Russ

Thanks! I have been researching it a little. Thanks for the added info. To be honest, that article was almost cut but decided to keep it in. :)

I like the added love for the staff. From British historical sources, the staff is the best weapon for personal defence bar none. George Silver (1599)- "And that the short staff has the advantage against the long staff of twelve, fourteen, sixteen or eighteen feet long, or of what length soever. And against two men with their swords and daggers, or two rapiers, poniards & gauntlets, or each of them a case of rapiers." and "The short staff or half pike, forest bill, partisan, or glaive, or such like weapons of perfect length, have the advantage against the battle axe, the halberd, the black bill, the two handed sword, the sword and target, and are too hard for two swords and daggers, or two rapier and poniards with gauntlets, and for the long staff and morris pike." He then goes on to say: "Yet understand, that in battles, and where variety of weapons are, among multitudes of men and horses, the sword and target, the two handed sword, battle axe, the black bill, and halberd, are better weapons, and more dangerous in their offense and forces, than is the sword and buckler, short staff, long staff, or forest bill. The sword and target leads upon shot, and in troops defends thrusts and blows given by battle axe, halberds, black bill, or two handed swords, far better than can the sword and buckler." Joseph Swetnam writing in 1617 has much to say about the staff and concludes " yet I must needes confesse, there is great oddes in the Staffe, if the Staffe-man bee verie skillful, but otherwise the Rapier and Dagger hath the oddes being furnished with skill." Zach Wylde writing in 1711 says- "It is a true British Weapon, of great Antiquity, much Practised and Admired in former Days; to give it its due Praise, it is a most Noble Weapon, and very useful in several Respects, it is in the Nature of a double Weapon, by reason when you Exercise it, you make use of both Hands: I wonder that it is not more in Vogue in this Nation, considering its Excellency, for a Man that rightly understands it, may bid defiance, and laugh at any other Weapon, for it has a double Advantage in many kinds of all others; the long Pike, half Pike, or Pitchfork, may be termed Fools to it, no, they can't in the least come in Competition with it." TLDR- Staff is good.
