Hey folks! A lot has happened over the last year, and I haven't uploaded in a while. The Pandemic has given me plenty of time to think about this journey and where I wanted it to go and what ultimately wanted to spend my time doing if possible and all that led me to the decision to release GeoPix as a free to use open source project on GitHub on April 8th!
The motivations for this were many, but the two main things were related to spending so much time on the biz side of things, managing website, licensing, sinking tons of money and time into all that has ultimately taken away from actually developing on the software itself, which is what I'm most passionate about anyway.
Also, adoption was slow and understandably. The market for this type of software tends towards specialty, and much higher price for licenses making it hard for people to get on board a new software like GeoPix.
So, being a big fan and user of Blender, I instead decided to give the open source route a go. It means many more will try it, adopt it, make tutorials and form public facing communities. It will be easier to sample a larger group of people in terms of bugs to fix, features to add, etc.
So, here's to a new and exciting beginning for GeoPix, and thank you all for stopping by (or subscribing) it helps immensely, and I couldn't be more stoked to begin moving GeoPix in this direction.
