On Sales Tax
Added 2020-06-17 14:03:22 +0000 UTCOkay so, in the US, laws got changed, and so now some people who are in the US are going to start paying sales tax when they use Patreon. If you're in the EU, this has been done since 2015, so nothing changes for you. If you're in the US, the only people that it changes for are people who are in states where sales tax laws are applicable.
I have no control over this; this is entirely a government and patreon side thing, but I felt the need to let people know that you may be charged sales tax when you weren't before due to the change in laws. Again, this only effects people in states where such laws are in effect.
All of this is done on their end, not mine, so I don't know who is going to be charged what rates, as it's not decided based on the state in which I live but by the state that the patron lives in. It probably won't effect that much, given the tiers that I have at the moment, but I felt that I needed to let people know so that they don't think they're being wrongly charged for anything.
