All-devouring wolf

The two auras stood in opposition above the chaos of the battlefield, the pressure of their energies even impacting the demigods who fought below.

Seth’s six-colored energy aura clashed with Fenrir’s gray one, but despite Seth’s cultivation reaching the peak in six energies and having a divinity in two of them, Fenrir’s chaos energy was still slowly overcoming it, her aura encroaching onto his domain.

“You actually came,” Seth said in a low voice, facing the gigantic beast that had blocked his path. “It’s no wonder that bastard made me run away from you back then… This aura and pressure… You’re even more of a monster that I remembered.”

Fenrir didn’t seem to care about Seth’s speech or pause, emitting a thunderous roar as more chaotic energy encased it in silver-gray flames and it charged toward Seth, its intention clear. To devour the one who dared to challenge its might.

Seth used his space energy to move away, easily avoiding the creature’s attack and reappearing behind it with a huge dark-red lance in his right hand. With one powerful throw, the lance sailed through space, burying itself into the beast’s bottom before exploding into a sphere of destruction.

Amidst the mass of destruction energy, a glimmering black claw flew toward Seth’s head. Seth teleported out of the way of another attack from Fenrir, and he got a good look at the human-sized wolf that had appeared in front of him.

‘So it understood that it couldn’t fight me in that form and decreased its size to match me in agility.’

Seth kept blinking away, hurling destruction attacks at the unceasingly advancing wolf. All of his strikes hit the wolf, but despite the force behind those assaults being enough to endanger any other god, the wolf behaved as if it didn’t even notice them, taking the attacks head on and maintaining its advance toward Seth.

After he had been launching hundreds of strikes towards the wolf and not accomplishing anything, Seth widened the distance between them even more and he watched as the wolf also ceased its offensive, going backwards until it was at the border of the realm of Yggdrasil.

Taking a brief moment to observe his wives and Gaia’s fights, Seth noticed the situation was not bad, with his wives keeping Gaia at a standstill and he fixed his attention back to the wolf.

‘This thing appears completely wild, but won’t leave Yggdrasil alone for even a moment… system, any idea on how to pull it away? I just need a couple of seconds to create an opening into Yggdrasil’s domain.’

<Negative. The All-devouring wolf is under Yggdrasil’s control and most likely won’t leave her domain. You might have to go around it. >

‘I do not know what Yggdrasil would have Fenrir do if I let it alone on the battlefield. Can’t risk endangering the others…’ said Seth, covering himself in destruction energy and charging at the beast head on.

In response to Fenrir charging right back at him, Seth crafted a massive greatsword, and then he swung it straight towards Fenrir’s head. The beast increased its size slightly, then it opened its mouth and chomped down on the greatsword that was aimed at its head.

Seth smiled and slowed down time all around, ready to create a lance in his other hand and try to pierce the beast’s neck.

A feeling of exhaustion came over him while he was making his lance, and a notification showed up in his vision.

<Your energy is being consumed too rapidly. Relinquish the greatsword and retreat. >

Seth instantly let go of the greatsword and teleported back, as the energy which had constructed the sword was absorbed into the beast’s mouth. Examining his source of destruction, Seth was astounded to see only a small amount of energy left after his short entanglement with the beast.

‘Did it just consume a divine source's worth of energy in mere moments?’

<Affirmative. >

Seth looked into the creature’s ravenous eyes and used his divinity to draw energy from the space all around, replenishing his energy source. To the god, who had a practically limitless reserve of energy to draw upon, losing energy was not a huge concern, yet he was still stumped as to how the beast emptied his source so quickly.

“I refuse to believe this thing can eat anything I throw at it. Lust, please,” said Seth with a focused look, two shattering noises resounding deep inside his soul as he lifted his hand high above his head.

Creation energy flowed out of his divine crown, intertwining with his space and destruction energies, forming a small orb right above Seth’s head. Seth looked up at the orb in his hand and frowned, realizing he might need more, so two more shattering noises resounded from the depths of his soul, prompting more energy to move toward the orb.

The sounds of Seth’s divine spikes shattering attracted everyone’s attention. Even Gaia distanced herself momentarily from Seth’s wives as she bellowed, “Yggdrasil, don’t allow that attack -.”

Henrietta, who was the one closest to Gaia, used her divinity to appear closer to Gaia and launch a sudden attack, interrupting Gaia’s orders. Not long after, Hollie and Lisa joined in, continuously attacking Gaia, not allowing her to relay any instructions.

Despite everything, because of Fenrir’s position, right between Seth and Yggdrasil, dodging an attack was not an option and Seth had already taken that into consideration.

Seth was pleased with the outcome of him breaking four of his divine spikes, so he waved his hand forward, sending the unassuming orb towards Fenrir and smiling as he waited to see how Fenrir would handle it.

Following what Seth pretty much expected, the wolf’s body expanded once again, its maw opening wide to reveal a silver-gray vortex spinning quickly in the beast’s throat.

“Is that a source?” asked Seth in surprise, his eyes widening, not expecting the beast to have an actual soul to cultivate a source.

<It would appear so. A chaos source can absorb any sort of energy, so it would explain how it can devour your energy so easily. >

“Chaos sources are something else indeed,” said Seth, watching the orb he had launched approaching the chaos vortex.

“Let’s see you eat this,” muttered Seth, snapping his fingers.

The orb, which had been inactive previously, suddenly released a mixture of energies directly into the creature’s maw. The eruption shot outward from the beast’s mouth, engulfing Fenrir in a multitude of colors that spread in all directions.

The ripples of energy swept the battle going on underneath, making even the gods and demigods pause in combat and use their power for their own protection. The surrounding space crumbled and mended repeatedly, with the shockwaves from the fight in the sky causing the fighting to come to a total halt.

Both sides were left speechless, in awe of the force behind the attack. Even Gaia was left in complete shock, realizing she had no way to defend against such a direct assault. When she saw Seth using four of his spikes to launch that attack, she knew it was powerful, yet the result still surpassed all of her expectations.

After the blast, the created nebula made it impossible to tell what had happened to Fenrir, but everyone was certain that even if it was still alive, it would have been in terrible shape.

Seth’s attack was the result of detonating a complete little universe, made using his creation divine crown and detonated using his destruction crown. It was the most powerful attack he could use after attaining a divinity in both creation and destruction, so he expected it would take at least half an hour for the chaos in the area to stabilize.

With a smile, Seth turned to look at Yggdrasil and his body got covered in energy, ready to charge at his actual target. On the opposite side of the battlefield, Gaia clearly read Seth's intentions and got ready to charge out of Henrietta’s, Hollie's and Lisa’s encirclement to stop him.

With his attack assured to keep Fenrir at least busy for a while, Seth could engage the defenseless Yggdrasil and once the world tree was out of the way, the war was as good as over.

The demigods returned to their senses and resumed combat as well.

Still, contrary to everyone’s expectations, just as Seth was about to teleport closer to the world tree, a deafening roar coming from the energy nebula attracted his attention, as well as the attention of every living being in its vicinity.

All the demigods, who had just resumed fighting, halted and raised their heads toward the loud roar.

Under everyone’s incredulous expressions, the nebula appeared to be sucked into a dark hole as it disappeared to reveal the untouched body of Fenrir, its hungry eyes watching Seth with a trace of strange joy.

Upon realizing the situation, Endora's troops were left speechless and in shock once again.

Seth’s wives were all frowning in response, understanding that Seth’s attack was not enough to stop Fenrir. Gaia was in equal shock to the rest of the people present at the start, but her face light up in joy when she spotted Fenrir’s condition. “Good girl, Fenrir.”

Seth also froze and stopped his attempt at teleporting closer to Yggdrasil, watching as space fixed itself around Fenrir. No matter how hard he looked, he couldn’t find a single trace of damage to the wolf’s entire body. It looked just as healthy as it did before the attack.

“System… that’s not possible. How can it be completely untouched after taking on the detonation of an entire world?”

<I think it’s called the All-devouring wolf for a reason, Seth. >
