Dev Log — September 2022

Hi everyone!

In today's dev log I'll be sharing some upcoming clothes I never got to share that will come out with the next update!

Formal Wear & Wedding Outfits

The next update will introduce a wedding outfit complete with a big dress, gown, ring, and a few other accessories! There are many fantasies to enjoy that only get better with the right outfit; whether it's playing the lost bride, playing out a romantic wedding, or corrupting something some pure as a bride-to-be! Regardless of which, I am sure the wedding dress will become a staple outfit for pure characters!

For the players who'd like to play the groom, I have also commissioned a formal outfit, including a gala dress for that high-society party! —I also expect the many different gloves will be popular accessories for outfits of any kind!

NPC Trader & Universal Currency

While working on the next update, I found some time to go over the design for how in-game trading will work and how items will be valued.

The Crown

The Crown will be a universal currency used in-game for trading. It's inspired by the Danish krone, which literally translates to "crown". The Danish krone was the first currency to be valued not by its weight in gold, but by what the king decided it was worth. Instead of carrying around cumbersome gold and silver, people would have coins made of cheap metal that made trading goods more convenient and could be exchanged for gold from the king. Similarly, Crowns themselves are worthless, but 100 Crowns can be exchanged for 1 Sol Talisman at the NPC trader, and vice versa., making trading in fractions of a Sol Talisman more convenient.

Trader Prices

I have already worked on a comprehensive list of trader prices and services, which can be found here 

These may not be final but should give some idea as to the value of different items and how the trader will work.

The trader is offering to sell useful items for other items, most often of a lower rarity, effectively allowing players to upgrade their less valuable items for more useful ones. More importantly, it will mean any common item will never become less valuable than a fraction of a rare item it can be exchanged for at a whim. This will prevent common items from becoming worthless, which in turn makes sure new and casual players will always have access to items of value to trade with others. For players who prefer to be self-sufficient, it also allows them better access to useful items such as beads and soap, without having to first find another player to trade with.

The trader will buy almost anything in exchange for Crowns. These are unlikely to be great deals, but it's convenient and useful for reducing clutter fast. The trader purposefully offers terrible deals for priceless items (1c for an Oculus Talisman) to warn players who may not understand its value that this couldn't possibly be near its actual market value, and increase the chance of these items being traded with another player who might need them.

The trader will also offer a service to identify items. This is a new concept that will be introduced with the trader, where found magical items cannot be manipulated before they are either identified or equipped by the player. The price for this service is one Luna Talisman, supposedly the least valuable item, but at the same time priceless if you want to avoid hexed items.

Expected Release Date

I expect the next update to be out sometime in early December. I've been absolutely swamped with work for the last few months, which you can properly tell! But because of all the extra work I've been doing, I've managed to get basically the entire of December and most of January off, which will allow me some proper time to catch up with Battle Mage and tie a nice bow on the upcoming update!

Sometimes I have to shove an update out the door before I wanted to, because I know it's my last good window in a while for rolling out an update, but because I have much more time than I'm used to coming December, I should have the time I need to not just finish up what is necessary in order to release the update, but also make it a great update. Things like making use there are some good use cases for the new sex toys ❤
