"Did I do anything to upset her?"
Ron whispered, "That's my sister, Ginny. She's been talking about you all summer."
Harry lowered his head, now understanding his fame among wizards. It wasn't the first time he'd seen such a reaction, and he was almost used to it.
It was like a fangirl meeting her idol.
As lunch was being served, the door opened again.
A middle-aged man with an honest face and red hair walked in.
He nodded at Harry, clearly having met him before, and smiled warmly when he saw Hermione.
"You must be Miss Granger. Thank you for protecting Harry and Ron. To defeat an adult wizard in your first year, especially a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, is unprecedented. It's even talked about within the Ministry of Magic!"
Is it really that big of a deal to take down a bumbling Quirrell? Hermione was a bit surprised.
She thought defeating Quirrell was normal, but forgot that her age made it all the more astonishing to everyone else.
"Well... Quirrell wasn't in the best shape at the time..." Hermione tried to downplay it.
"I heard you also helped Gryffindor win the Quidditch Cup against Slytherin as a Beater?" Molly added.
"That... The Golden Snitch was actually caught by Harry. He scored all the points. It wasn't my doing..."
"Little Hermione, you're so modest. Harry said you were the one who deserved the most credit," Molly looked at Hermione with fondness.
"And you got perfect scores on your final exams, I hear."
That part was true.
For Hermione, the first-year wizarding exams were like high school students doing elementary math—effortlessly easy.
But Mrs. Weasley, how do you know more about my achievements than I do? Hermione wondered.
In this world, you're more informed than S.H.I.E.L.D.! Imagine if you were in Marvel; you'd be unstoppable!
Where does all this information come from?
"Look at Hermione!" Molly suddenly turned to Ron. "She's achieved so much in just one year, and you didn't even get an Outstanding on your exams!"
Ron, busy stuffing a drumstick in his mouth, looked defeated.
I didn't either... Harry wanted to defend Ron but held back.
Hermione pretended not to notice and ate quietly.
For a moment, the table was filled with cheerful chatter.
---
After the meal, Mr. Arthur Weasley took out his briefcase and produced a box.
Opening it revealed a collection of items Hermione recognized.
"Is this... alchemy material?"
Arthur nodded, "Hermione, since you gave Ron a broomstick and your alchemy skills are impressive, I used some Ministry connections to keep these seized alchemy materials for you."
Your whole family is so kind to me, it's making me nervous...
Wait... Hermione thought of a terrifying possibility.
Help!
She felt the urge to run away.
The wizarding world is complicated; I want to go back to Marvel!
After a moment's thought, Hermione accepted the box and placed something on the table.
Arthur's eyes widened at the sight of the dark, shiny object.
"This, this is..."
Yes, it was a pistol.
Hermione knew Arthur worked in the Ministry's Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office and loved collecting Muggle items.
He had a particular fondness for Muggle inventions.
"How did you get this?"
Arthur was incredulous.
This wasn't just any Muggle item; it was extremely dangerous.
"I came across it by chance," Hermione explained briefly. "This pistol is for you."
Arthur's eyes lit up with excitement. He'd wanted to add this to his collection but hadn't had the chance. Hermione's gift was a delightful surprise.
"What is this?"
The Weasleys gathered around, curious.
Harry recognized it and looked at Hermione sharply.
"Well, it's like a Muggle's version of a wand," Hermione said, slightly unsure.
Arthur explained, "This is a Muggle weapon. Not everyone is allowed to have one."
"What kind of magic can a Muggle's wand do?" Ron asked, intrigued.
Hermione glanced at him and said, "Avada Kedavra."
The room instantly went silent.
Hermione felt the tension rise, and Ron, Ginny, and the twins took a step back.
Ron forced a smile, "Hermione... you're joking, right?"
The Unforgivable Curses were known to everyone, with Avada Kedavra being the most feared and forbidden magic among wizards.
"It's not that dramatic. Hermione's just teasing you," Arthur said, breaking the tension. "Though it's powerful, it can't compare to the Killing Curse. But it is a dangerous item, so don't handle it carelessly."
"It's fine." Hermione picked up the pistol, "I'll just remove the spell inside."
With practiced ease, she pulled the slide, ejecting the bullet, then removed the magazine, confirmed it was empty, and reassembled it.
With a "click," the barrel was reset, and Hermione placed it back on the table.
"All safe now."
Arthur and Harry wanted to say something but held back, wary of the implications.
Molly and Arthur exchanged glances, silently asking each other:
Is this really the daughter of a dentist? What kind of family do they come from?
It seemed like Hermione's parents were just ordinary, nice people.
---
Early the next morning.
Watching Ginny sleep, Hermione quietly slipped out of bed.
The Burrow wasn't small, but with the large Weasley family and guests like Hermione and Harry, space was tight.
So Hermione shared a room with Ginny, and Harry bunked with Ron.
Looking around the room, which was no less cozy than her own, Hermione noted how much the Weasleys cherished their only daughter.
Outside, Hermione began practicing spells with her wand.
"Expelliarmus!"
"Protego!"
"Stupefy!"
Here, she could finally practice freely.
The Trace doesn't detect magic use; it tracks underage wizards by detecting magical activity nearby.
If there's magic near an underage wizard's registered residence, and they're the only wizard present, it's automatically flagged as a violation.
That's why when Dobby used magic, Harry was wrongly blamed.
