You hold your books on survival close. A part of your wants to devour you survival books and learn as much as you can. You might learn something vital, after all…
But another part of you wants to interact with your eldrin, Twain. The mysterious mimic hasn’t said much on the trek, but he hangs around you constantly. Even now, he’s by your feet on the deck of the boat, his fur bothered by the wind.
“Tell me something interesting,” you say to him.
Twain’s large ears twitch. “Hm? Me?” He paws at his whiskers. “I was thinking… Have you seen any true form mystical creatures? I wonder… what does a mimic look like?”
The thought swirls in your head. As far as you’ve read, no one has seen a true form mimic. What would it look like?
But before you can voice something, a bell rings out from the crow’s nest overhead. The bell signifies danger ahead, either because of storm clouds… or pirates.
Twain gets to all four paws, his eyes wide. “What’s going on?”
“It’s bad news captain,” a man shouts. “There’s a ship on the horizon! I recognize the flag… It’s The Crimson Storm.”
Panic spread to the sailors. They rush around the deck, shouting instructions to batten down the hatches. The ship is a dot on the horizon, but the frantic energy on the ship tells you something is terribly wrong.
“Hey!” Twain yells. “What’s going on!”
A deckhand stops running long to say, “The Crimson Storm is a mysterious vessel—terrible typhoons follow this ship everywhere it goes. Some say it’s a ghost ship that terrifies the living… Others say it’s captained by a vile arcanist pirate.”
Twain growls, his fur on end. “I don’t like this…”
What do you do?
A) Hide below deck and hope everything turns out okay.
B) Ask the captain to flee to the closest island.
C) Ask the captain to engage the ship in a battle. Your mimic can give you magic.
D) Get in a dinghy and head to The Crimson Storm yourself.
E) Wait on deck and just watch everything happen.
F) “Twain, what should we do?"
