You decide to ask the captain to flee to the closest island.
The Icy Wind is captained by a locker shark arcanist. Her name is Maranda Gale, and while you’ve never interacted with her, you’ve heard of her adventures as a transport captain.
[Academic Knowledge] You’re also aware that locker sharks are born from the wreckage of lost ships. They’re ghost-like in appearance and seek out life in all forms. They’re powerful, but only in the water, and mostly at night. They evoke putrid waters, augment wind, and manipulate water.
You hurry to the quarterdeck with Twain on your shoulder. Your eldrin seems to know what you want!
When you reach the deck, you notice the librarian there, speaking with the captain.
Captain Gale is tall, lithe, and long of neck. She has a sharp appearance—nice coat, shining boats, and a thick belt—and her locker shark mark on her forehead looks like a giant-mouthed shark wrapped around a seven-pointed star.
When she turns to you, she narrows her hazel eyes.
“Ah, if it isn’t our new mimic arcanist,” she says. “How well are you a in fight?”
“We should flee to the nearest island, Twain says. He swipes at the air. “We don’t have nearly the cat power on this vessel to handle a whole host of pirates!”
Captain Gale doesn’t seem to like that answer. She stares at you for a long moment, obviously mulling over the statement.
For the first time since you became a mimic arcanist… You seem to sense ambient magic. You can feel the locker shark nearby.
“All right,” Captain Gale says. “If I don’t have the support of all the arcanists for a fight, obviously we should flee.” She gives the crew hand signals, and the sails are turned immediately. “But we won’t be heading for an island… I know someplace better.”
What do you do?
