“I think the captain is a genius,” you say. “The Vortex sounds amazing.”
Twain tilts his head. “Is that so? All right… I guess if my arcanist wants to do this… I’ll go along with it.” He sighs and his fur puffs out.
The Icy Wind heads away from the pirate ship and takes a turn to the far horizon. The crew gets agitated and runs around the deck, keeping the sails in place so they can use the winds to their greatest advantage.
Twain keeps close to you, quieter than before. “When I was a leviathan, they said the Vortex was a place they needed to avoid.” He licks his paw and rubs his face to straighten his fur. “Not because they were afraid, but because they said they had made an agreement with a powerful arcanist.”
You haven’t read anything about that, but Twain doesn’t sound like he’s lying, either…
While everyone’s excitement and anxiety are high, it still takes you an hour of sailing to even reach the supposed location of The Vortex. Once there, the clouds in the sky grow thick and black.
You stand near the railing of the ship, your mimic by your side. You sense more magic as you approach the darkened area of the ocean. It feels like… a dragon.
At least, you think it’s a dragon. Your mimic magic is still new.
In the distance, you see something jutting out of the water. A stone? It looks like a ring.
What do you do?
A) Wait. Trust the captain.
B) “Twain, can you transform into a dragon?”
C) Write down your observations so you can study them later.
D) Help the crew with the rigging and sails.
E) “Uh, I think this might be a bad idea.”
