Game System [Character Creation]

Hey peeps!

So, I put together a player handbook (it's rough, please forgive me) and included a character sheet and a the merits/flaws you can start with. (They're attachments to this post)

Normally, John and I are there to talk people through the game, so we never really wrote a bunch of stuff down. I'll try to explain how we introduce people to our game system, and if you want to make a character, you can, and I can even do some Choose Your Own Adventures to show you how the stats work in it.

STARTING OFF

So, John and I normally start all players on Earth, and then we isekai them to a magical setting (say, the Frith World). Sometimes we do more complicated magical worlds, like sci-fi magic, or sometimes we do more traditional settings, like medieval Europe.

The Frith Universe was one such game setting, where people got their magical powers (and could advance them) only through bonding with creatures. In the Eveon game, people can get merits to bond with more creatures, so we had some crazy builds. For the books, obviously I changed that.

Isekai Setting

"Isekai" mean "portal fantasy" - it's a term to indicate the main character is moved from Earth and taken to a magical world.

The point is that you start the game as a modern human of any background. You can be a doctor or a movie star or bum--it doesn't matter. At some point, you'll either be whisked away to a magical world (or in some games, there's a "system apocalypse" and Earth is forever changed).

When making a character, just follow the rules and go crazy.

It's Like Vampire the Masquerade

If you've ever played the table-top game "Vampire" then you'll be super familiar with the D-10 system and the character sheet. The stats and skills are very similar. However, you're gonna notice this more complex (there's no humanity or anything like that) and this game system is built for wild amounts of dice (like 30-50) instead of the normal below 10 in Vampire.

John and I liked the D-10 system, so we used that. If we ever took this game system higher, we'd have to change it more (to not be AS similar) but if you play, you're gonna see it's actually pretty different.

There's 12 Magics

I haven't included the magic files. Those are super huge. Lots of power. Maybe too many powers (lol) but if you've read the Nexus Games, you have already seen a couple.

If people make characters, the point is that they have no magic until they're isekai'd away.

So, you don't need to look at the magics before making a character. You'll get them later (either by bonding to things, or developing them naturally).

Hopefully it Makes Sense!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the game system! And if you make a character, just email me at s.adelle.s at gmail.com
