AToHA World Building: Post-Battle Breeding

Let's observe a tradition of the southwest region, the practice of post-battle breeding. After a battle, the women and men bathe in a nearby river or pond. In the evening, the fertile women in the camp lay with the soldiers. There is no privacy as the women and men share one another openly in communal breeding. This tradition started from interactions with Faun tribes and exposure to Sylph culture over the centuries. Post-battle breeding is not the only time when the humans in this region behave in such a manner (but that is for another time). Whenever humans from the surrounding settlements get together, the young, healthy humans are encouraged to engage in intercourse to help maintain their populations.

Side note: When a man or woman comes of age, they are paired up with someone of the same age and lose their virginity together with that person. They also are placed in a tent with a couple of experienced women who help coach the younger ones in proper lovemaking and breeding. This process results in a region of rather exceptional lovers, as the night echoes with the pleasured moaning and cries of women and men in the throes of passionate lovemaking.

Another side note: Once a woman becomes pregnant and can lactate, they try to prevent themselves from losing the ability to lactate. This allows women who've borne children to help nurse other babies if necessary (similar to a wet nurse). This system helps ensure young boys and girls grow up well-nourished in their earliest years.

Children need to be born often to replace the old and those who perish. As a result, large gatherings of people in this region often turn into massive breeding orgies where women fill themselves with the seed of as many men as they possibly can. Children born in the farmlands are raised by the community to one day take the place of the elders when they become too old to work. While monogamy is not nonexistent, it is not a formal practice in this region, especially in the farmlands. As a result, the concept of a father or mother is not as concrete as you or I would understand but see all adults as a form of caretakers.
