Two years of Cthulhu Architect Maps - Upcoming Changes
Added 2023-03-01 09:27:20 +0000 UTCIt was during March 2021 when I decided to start my Patreon page. I remember that I couldn't find any modern maps to use in my games. One of the first maps I designed was the "Small Diner"; this simple map became the center of operations for my investigators in a mini-campaign I was running back then. I was excited!
When I decided to start the Patreon page, I could have never imagined that so many people would enjoy my work! I am honored and I appreciate your support and love very much! I hope that you enjoy my maps and that you can see the improvement in my style during all this time.
After 2 years I decided to do some changes on my Patreon page which do not affect any existing patron.
First of all, I am going to create a Foundry Module Asset Pack that is going to include all of my assets categorized into folders for easy use within FoundryVTT. I hope this will help you easily drag & drop some assets to customize your map. This asset module will be available to all the tiers that already have access to my asset packs, aka Tier 4 - Nyarlathotep & Tier 5 - Azathoth
Secondly, I am planning to merge all the existing map foundry modules into a single mega-module for each tier. There are going to be three mega-modules, one for each tier that has access to my foundry modules (Tier 3 - Great Cthulhu, Tier 4 - Nyarlathotep, Tier 5 - Azathoth). I am going to re-create these modules using v10 FoundryVTT.
- Tier 3 - Great Cthulhu mega-module is going to include all the normal (aka different levels + day & night) variations & floorplans (where applicable).
- Tier 4 - Nyarlathotep mega-module is going to include the normal variations, floorplans (where applicable) and all the extra variations (splatter, abandoned etc.).
- Tier 5 - Azathoth mega-module is going to include only the empty variations of maps. Using it with the new Foundry Module Asset Pack you will be able to style and customize most of my maps.
IMPORTANT: All existing Tier 3 - Great Cthulhu patrons will be moved into a Legacy Great Cthulhu Tier and will have access to Tier 4 - Nyarlathotep foundry module. This is a way to say "thank you" to everybody that supported me since my early days. You will continue to receive exactly the same benefits as now for the same cost.
On April 1st I am going to create a new Tier 3 - Great Cthulhu for new subscribers. That new Tier will give access to the Tier 3 - Great Cthulhu module which will include normal variations & floorplans (where applicable). This affects only the new patrons that will subscribe after April 1st.
During March it is your last chance to subscribe to the current Tier 3 - Great Cthulhu (which will become Legacy on 1st of April) and enjoy the mega-module provided in Tier 4 - Nyarlathotep.
So, in summary, all existing patrons will remain unaffected by the changes. All existing patrons will continue to receive the same benefits for the same price.
I will focus on this transition during March; create these new mega-modules and convert the existing modules to v10 Foundry. I will still publish the maps for this month, but I will not do a poll and instead focus on some ideas I had for some time.
Since the beginning I aim to keep my Patreon page affordable so even more people can enjoy my maps and I will continue to do so.
Thanks to every single one of you for your support. Feel free to start a discussion in the comments (or in discord) with your thoughts. I am open to suggestions and ideas.
Cheers,
CA
P.S. I have a concern about the people that use Forge. The mega-module is going to be quite large in size (e.g. 1GB). I know that Forge uses some kind of cache mechanism which allows the installation of content packs without affecting the available space on your Forge account. What I don't know is if that "caching" mechanism would work with a private/protected module. I already contacted some people with that question and I am waiting for an answer. If anyone knows something more, please let me know in the comments' section.

That makes sense! I can see why you’d want to split those extra bits off.

2023-03-01 12:01:52 +0000 UTCGood question! No, nothing will change. I am still going to add overhead tiles and/or cars in my maps, that you can easily remove if you want to. One thing that I may stop doing is adding some assets/tiles on the margins of each map/scene as you will be able to use the Foundry Module Asset Pack to drag and drop the extra assets in a scene.
