Outlaw Beach & Anim Update (WIP)

It has been a while since our last Ashe set. I love her design and character in general, and it's great to bring her back. She is one of those OW characters that I'd love to do more art of, but when it comes to models, there are not a lot of great options. This set turned out great, though. Actually, I'd say that this is probably my favorite work that I've done this year (so far). I'm excited to share it with you.
As for the animation, I made solid progress this week. I've been thinking about how I want the scene to play out—considering things like poses and pacing. I started the week by blocking out the first few seconds of the animation, moving from pose to pose.
Rather than continuing to block out the entire scene, I decided to polish what I had so far into a more refined animation, as shown in the first GIF. While experienced animators might be able to block an entire sequence without issue, I’ve found it tricky to feel the pacing without fully animating the segment.
I often spend hours fine-tuning tiny details until I land on something I’m happy with. There’s no limit to how much time you can spend on it—and no such thing as a perfect animation. Eventually, though, you have to find a balance between quality and time.
After the first segment, I moved on to block out the next few seconds, which you can see in the second GIF. That’s what I’ll be focusing on next. More updates soon!
