Because you asked!

Hello guys!

During the last streams you asked me about how I organise my paints, so here you can find a few pictures!
All my studio is on wheels so I can move every component to fit the task of the moment, but I rarely move around the painting area. Everything is in arms reach from my chair in the middle and at different distances depending on what I use the most/I tend to use on impulse without planning.
The main table is based on the Ikea Pax wardrobe system and the left column is all about paints.

Top to bottom:
-DIY low foamcore trays on shelves for the tubes of heavy body paint that lay down on their side in order of shade (I just followed the Schmincke numeration on the tubes).
-low drawer-tray for Acrylic Gouache/SoFlat with DIY foamcore separators to divide the main tones.
-low drawer-tray for various small collections, but mainly for Golden High Flow and Scale75 metals. I 3D printed low slotted trays so every bottle has its own slot and nothing moves around.
-low drawer-tray with super extendable runners for all my transparent paints (HighFlow transparent, Liquitex and Schmincke inks). Every bottle in its slot!
-Contrast!
-Deep drawer for Moltow & ScalePotions (I still want to use them... but they'll be moved soon in deeper storage).
-The last two deep drawers are for oils (reorganisation in progress because I'm starting to have too many tubes, but I use always the same 5-10 lol. They are temporarily in a Really Useful Box easy to reach under the main table) and miscellaneous stuff (Tamiya, Enamels, Weathering products, craft paints for terrains... I'm organising them in little thematic printed trays with handles that will fit Tetris style into the drawer).
-All the stuff that I don't feel super important and/or I use less + restock of the shelves (having extra copies of the materials I use the most is super important! I don't want to be stalled during a project) go into a tower of Really Useful Boxes with 3D printed trays, gifted to friends or in my kid's painting box (that now reached the 16 liters of volume, lol)
-To ease the everyday work I have a rolling cart next to the table with the paints I'm using for the project of the moment (so they don't engulf my table) and a few universally useful things like paper towels, palette sheets, brush soap...

I'll soon make a video/virtual tour, I promise! The paints have been in this organisation for a while now and the real new addition is the slots system coming out of my little Bambu A1 mini (all free files found around the web, some with just slight adjustments of proportions or tactical cuts to better fit the specific sizes of my drawers or boxes).

And if you want to know more just ask me :D

Have a lovely week! See you soon!

Marco, years ago, I lost paints because they dried out…I had taken a break of perhaps ten years. Lately, I’m losing some of my vallejo paints to age, though they’re only four or five years old. I’ve gone mostly to SoFlat paints now…and I hear storing paints upside down can help preserve them. What is your experience with this? Do you have any recommendations? Any guesses to what if anything I’m doing wrong? It seems wrong that I keep my caps tight and yet my Vallejos are congealing in the bottle….

You said there are ~10 oil paints you use the most. What are they? (Brand/color)
