This is Week 1 of the Composing with Lament Bass Workshop. It's designed to teach you about the Lament Bass and improve your songwriting/arranging skills around this simple yet versatile framework. If you're an advanced composer this class might be a bit slow for you, but I think it should hit the sweet-spot for many of you by blending together concepts that you might be familiar with.

How to take this course:

Watch each lesson live or afterwards. Each video will begin with a short introduction and greeting to live viewers, then the lesson will start. Afterwards, there will be time for live Q+A, but for viewers who aren't attending live, you can ask questions in this patreon thread. There will also be a PDF attached each week showing the slideshow I'll be working off of.

Each week there will be a musical assignment you are encouraged to submit. The thread for submitting your song will post tomorrow - I will review a handful of submissions before the following lesson, but I can't guarantee I'll get to all of them! I'll make sure to cycle through different students though, so if you're stuff is reviewed the first week, then I'll probably skip reviewing yours the second week.

Later this year I intend to make a slick YouTube video on this topic and would love to include some submissions here. After the course is done, I'll contact some of you to see if you are willing to participate!
