Welcome to Post Games

Post Games is a listener-supported podcast about why and how we love video games.

Each week, host Chris Plante reports on a new, overlooked, or underappreciated topic in gaming culture. Where did all the new porn games come from? What’s it like to be the AI that destroys the world? How has one award turned tiny indie game makers into big-name millionaires?

With original interviews, spoken essays, and a traditional audio-magazine structure, Plante keeps things entertaining, informative, and always under 90 minutes. Because Post Games is meant to be listened to—not buried in a backlog.

When can I start listening to this show?

Patreon subscribers get early access to the first episode of Post Games on Friday, May 23. The episode (minus bonus materials) will be available on all platforms Monday, May 26.

After that, Patreon members will receive new episodes of Post Game on Fridays at 5PM ET. And non-subscribers will receive the same episode (again, minus bonus materials and plus ads) on Mondays at 5PM ET.

What do you get as a Patreon supporter?

Post Games is free on all podcast platforms, but it can’t exist without Patreon support. This is my full-time job, and it's patrons that keep my lights on.

In return, I'm giving everyone who supports Post Games something extra every week, not just every month.

Here’s what you'll receive as a Post Games subscriber:

Who is the host of Post Games?

Hi, I’m Chris Plante. For nearly twenty years, I wrote video game criticism and journalism for gaming’s core demographic: teenagers and college kids. I loved reporting for hundreds of thousands of people and overseeing a site visited by millions each month.

But a funny thing happened along the way: I got older.

Post Games is designed to be enjoyed by a few thousand listeners, not tens of millions. Stories are chosen based on subscribers' questions and interests, not daily SEO trends. And while anyone can tune in, the show is made for people who love games but don’t have the time they used to.

I think of this part of my career like an actor leaving TV for the theater, eager to perform for a live audience rather than a camera lens. I’m excited to share this space. I hope you are too.

Who makes Post Games?

For the foreseeable future, Post Games will be a solo operation. I write, edit, and produce the show, and I handle booking, interviews, and promotion.

The show's logo is by Happicamp Creative Director James Bareham.

The theme is by Mark Sparling.
