I cant believe nobody answered their question about why Tesla's don't need a traditional transmissions. Electric motors handle more torque. 0-20000 rpm, so there is no need for multispeed gearboxes to manage it. Here is a good video to explain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wiKMyncZrw
