To add to Mark’s comment about Chappelle taking acting classes... Eddie Murphy told him something along the lines of “You think in scenes. I can tell from your comedy, you think in scenes. You have to write too. Do some screenwriting.” That led to Half Baked and ultimately Chappelle Show.
