Hey Oak, the first time I watched this episode I too didn’t catch that it truly was about a missing lunch. I do believe that you tapped into Ted’s emotions on a personal level. Being half a world away from his son when his son needed him whether it be for a school lunch or heaven forbid an illness or injury hit Ted very hard. I’m guessing that that may have hit home for you with a young son yourself. You’re a good man and I appreciate your passion and genuineness in all your reactions.

Hello Eric. Thank you for your feedback.
Quick question, did you try the 3 dots and select picture in picture?

The club the song was let it go, the lyrics are the key to why Ted had a panic attack

I wonder if Ted will congratulate Nate for his good work like he does Roy? Ted wasn’t even there for it.

Tried the website. It's super slick, but it's not as user friendly as the youtube app. I can't picture in picture or background play it as easily. I'll be using the youtube link as long as it's posted... that being said, I'll be alright with using the website only once the switch happens.

Nobody said it was a soccer show. It's not called "AFC Richmond" :D

Jamie learning to be humble (and often whiffing it in the process “God bless me, everyone”) is such a great development and a testament to how great the writers are at nuanced development.

I am so glad I found your channel, you guys are so insightful and thoughtful! I geek out about this show all the time and it makes me crazy that no one else seems to notice that it’s Rebecca telling Higgins not to say anything when last season she was furious that he didn’t tell her what was happening in her own marriage. I think it’s intentional and real for the show to point out that we all have blind spots and misperceptions.
Regarding Ted’s panic attack, it dovetails nicely with Ted’s values and insecurities. He prides himself on helping players develop on and off the field. He brought Jamie back specifically because he knows he doesn’t have a good father figure like Sam does. He’s helped Jamie become a waaaay better person, but Roy points out he’s neutralized some of his strengths as a player. Ted adores his son but he can’t actually help when the call comes.
Right after that blow, Roy is proven right about Jamie—and Ted hears Jamie’s dad screaming at him after the relegation match as well as Henry’s voice looking up to Jamie in the panic attack. I think his anxiety is tied to his feelings that he’s failing as a father and/or a father figure. The first panic attack comes as he’s getting ready to (in his perception) “quit” on his family with the divorce.
Sorry for the novel. You guys are great.

I'm pretty certain it was just Henry's forgotten lunch, however it hit Ted so hard (subconsciously or otherwise) bc it was a concrete reminder of the distance between him and his son, and how he can't be there for him like a "normal" nearby dad could be. Ted can't even be there for the little things.

Oak - it really was just his lunch. The effect of the call was much larger than the subject of the call. Ted was feeling helpless because he was being called upon as a dad, and there was nothing he could do. His panic attacks are all wrapped up in being a father and being a family man. His first one took place during "Let it Go," which is literally about walking away from your family and not holding in your emotions - two things Ted had terrible difficultly with (hence delaying signing the divorce papers until that same day). This panic attack was brought on by not being able to be present in his son's life and by Jamie reverting to the person who was forged by his horrible, abusive father. Listen to the voices Ted hears during his panic attacks - they'll always reveal the truth.

More growth from Jamie! Lol. Shows how much he love football to be willing to crawl to Roy over it.
