Not Nate demonstrating the ego of ppl who were never enough for the parent they always wanted to be proud of them 🥲

I really love and appreciate Jason Sudeikis and all of the creators of this show for normalizing mental health so much, and showing that having anxiety and panic attacks is okay!

Nate didn't heed to be thanked for literally doing his job. And it's not that Ted *didn't need* to talk to him, it's that Ted was obv going through his own issues and Nate is a grown ass adult. He shouldn't need Ted to babysit him or hold his hand.

Lindinha

When you realize episode 12 was the only time ted and nate even talked 1 on 1. He never even thanked him for covering for him at the match. Suddenly nate was just someone ted didnt need to talk to anymore.

A great aspect of Nate's character development is that there are some areas where he is OBJECTIVELY wrong. I think he's subjectively wrong about almost everything, but by nature of being subjective other people can disagree. Within the show, Nate obviously disagrees and thinks he's in the right. However, some areas are a matter of fact presented on screen, and he's wrong on those points. Like the issue of credit. Like you guys noted, Ted has given Nate credit from the beginning. Even before Nate was a coach. Ted called him "Nate the Great" during his first interview with Trent Crimm back when when Nate was still the kit man, because he has already started taking Nate's advice. Ted never took the credit even in the area of "He's the head coach and should get all the credit, because he also takes all the blame when things go wrong". In this episode you see Ted call the play "Nate's false nine" the entire time, even before they start the game, but when things are going bad at halftime Nate complains that Ted is NOW calling it "Nate's false nine" to shift the blame. As though he wasn't using the exact same terminology the entire time. Like I said, I think Nate's wrong about almost everything, but this is important to show him being wrong on specific facts so the show can clearly set up that he's in the wrong and not have the audience think "I wonder if we're supposed to side with him..."

Honestly their finales just absolutely KILL IT. They pack so much into them and they are perfection.

I have repeated Oak's "I'm so sick of Nate" a thousand times lmao

Rebecca and Keeley’s friendship grew on screen, and Hannah and Juno also became BFFs in real life. I think that’s one reason their relationship on screen was so natural and believable. I love that. And Roy absolutely should have consulted Keeley before planning a six week vacay when she’s just started a new business/job. Him being upset because she can’t go is not cool, really. That always bothered me. He should have known the odds of her being able to go were pretty slim. I love Roy, but he didn’t really think that through. Loving your reactions! I’ve said it before, you three get more references than most other reactors, and that is brilliant. Oh, saying “Oi!” To get someone’s attention is a very British thing. I use it all the time. The folks at the office laugh at me as I’m often saying it to the dogs in the office, when one tries to eat my pop tart! Try it, it works, especially if you say it loud enough. Regarding Nate’s change … if you remember back, they taught him, in a way, that being a little mean to the players, can get him results. Remember when they were in Liverpool, him talking to the team (“Isaac, I’ve noticed of late… you’ve been playing like a big dumb pussy.”)? Rebecca teaching him to be assertive. Plus, it doesn’t seem like he’s ever gotten much praise or confidence from his father, and because Ted was wonderful to him, he looked at him as a Father figure. And the Star Wars reference gets even better … just wait and see. There are also a lot of references in the show to The Wizard of Oz.. and many theories of who each character is. Okay, I’ve rambled enough. Thank you for always making my day better - and that’s saying something, lately. So, herzlichen dank💜

Did not have "A Ted Lasso comments section will become more contentious than a Last of Us comments section" on my BINGO card, I must admit.

Omg with the armchair diagnosing... ugh

Hell yeah, FUCK NATE! Hear hear!!

Nate definitely shows thought patterns similar to those of someone with BPD, with the first big clue being during movie night in S1. He definitely coulda used Sharon's help, but no one really saw the signs and pushed to help him. In short, to someone with those thought patterns treat perceived slights and negatives, as absolute truths. Take a hard time you have had with someone or some event that is 100% based in fact, Nate has those same emotions even though it isn't backed by evidence. Treating those though patterns is largely having the client look at the facts, and proving they don't align with other possibilities. Sam's story is such a good parallel to Nate, Akufu was 100% slight-ing Sam, and he could just laugh it off. If Nate was in Sam's position, he would take it so personally, it would crush him. | The finale gave me different tears than last time, signifying rebirth with the new puppy and Dani taking the penalty was wonderful. Also Ironic that they go back up with a draw. Can't help but think it was to directly oppose the American mentality that ties have no value in sports.

I never thought about that star war reference that’s great 😂
