Must say, I very much enjoyed this. While this definitely won't appeal to the bloodthirsty, violence obsessed snyder-heads, it's good to see a superman who's actually acting, you know, heroic. So many people forget that the symbol on Superman's chest is the kryptonian symbol for hope. Hope for a better world, where people take time to stop and focus on saving lives, even in the middle of a fight. And hope for a world where we don't need to rely on petty violence to resolve conflicts. As the famous 2006 quote goes "they can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way". That's why Superman isn't just "the last son of Krypton", or "the man of steel", but he's "the man of tomorrow". And I don't think it's a coincidence that this version of Superman's logo is taken straight from the Kingdom Come series, which is about Superman returning to earth, only to find out that "heroes" have devolved into violent, blood thirsty jerks, and Superman returning heroism back to its actual heroic roots. (PS: Oh and for everyone who says this version of Superman is weak; no he isn't. The only injuries he sustain is because he prioritizes saving people over hurting others, and the only real damage he takes, apart from when he's weakened by Kryptonite, is from his own clone)

Team Lex??? Ok Trump

Ant

I also watched Blind Wave's reaction and, no joke, the guys bring up Anakin from Clone Wars comparisons when they saw ultramans reveal.

JG

Mr. Terrific and Guy were great, Superman was pathetically weak, Krypto was the worst part, and Team Lex

I watched this for the first time with you guys. I have seen a lot of super hero movies but never Superman. I liked it a lot. I think casting was perfect. I wish we saw a little more Clark Kent. But I never found myself bored watching it. The similarities between the movie and the current genocide in Palestine. Even though I didn’t know anything about it going into it, I liked that it just jumped right into it.

Maddy Hutson

It really does resemble the genocide in Palestine.

My most anticipated film of the year. Superman is my favourite comic book character and I have read all of his major runs in the comics. That being said, my expectations were cautiously, moderately optimistic; optimistic because it's James Gunn, and cautious because it's James Gunn. Also my sensibilities gravitate more towards Zack Snyder's take on these characters, particularly him showcasing Superman as this deeply conflicted, complicated, whose moral core was made up of two very different ideals, messianic figure. And he created my favourite comic book film in Man of Steel. That being said, I'm a big James Gunn fan, having liked to loved all of his films except GOTG2. I thought Gunn constructed a soild yet somewhat rocky foundation of the universe, with the characters and performances being the driving force that pushed this movie over the line and made it an enjoyable watch. Messy: yes, poor exposition: yes, rushed: hell yes; but despite all its flaws its endearing and sincere effort to portray Superman as a becaon of hope that everyone should strive to be conveyed to me that Gunn gets Superman, and that is the most important part. Hopefully, in future installments he can carve a better story around that is equally as complelling and exciting. 3/5 Answers.

In fact the Squirell scene was very bad reciebed by test audiences. And actually where big discussions if they should cut it. But escencially they kept it because is a big way to show how Superman cares for the wellbeing of all living creatures. Some people hate the scene as they think is ridiculous and that Superman should be this ultra tough guy. Personally i like it and i love this version of Superman because that's what he is an incredible kind guy.

Okay so it's been a while since I've read some of these comics but James Gunn mainly pulled inspiration from All-Star Superman (brains beats brawn is in one of clark's final fights against luthor towards the end) and Birthright by Mark Waid. Birthright's take on Jor-el and Lara-el in a positive light, but there is the plot about lex framing clark with negative propaganda which is why I don't fully believe the video is true. A few comics have done a take on them where they want kal-el to colonize the planet, but for most superman readers it's (usually) not very well received. Man of Steel by John Byrne had some inspo on the movie, and it's clear with how clark mostly embraces his human side.
