exactly this. it’s the perfect series in every way, from beginning to end.

This is a series that I can watch over and over and still be in love with it. Oak is right, the ending is spectacular. In a time where we get epic shows with disappointing or mediocre endings, The Queen's Gambit was a breath of fresh air.

Just as Answer explains at the end when a pawn reaches the end of the board it becomes a Queen. From one end to another the pawn has to make 7 moves. The series has 7 episodes representing those 7 moves. At the end Beth is even dressed as the Queen piece, meaning she has compleated her journey.

Oak’s: “It was inside you all along! It wasn’t the pills” killled me 😅😅😅 And I agree, everybody needs a Jolene in their life! I love how excited and happy you were with the ending!

Vlad Lena

such a great show and satisfying ending :)

Hi guys! Great watch, I just to point out that when Beth plays against the grandmaster before Borgov, the older man. Well at the beginning of the match and he makes his second move and she suddenly smiles as you guys noticed and debated but it wassn't because the game was finally a "challenge" or she was having fun it's because he played the queen's gambit, Beth most famous signature opening as white! He probably did it on purpose, so that's why they smiled at each other

Thank you for the double episode drop! Absolutely LOVED rewatching this masterpiece of a series with you guys!

I was a puddle. I've watched the series many times, but it still hits me every time.

I usually don't cry watching stuff but seeing Mr. Shaibel's collection of Beth's accomplishments had me cryingggggg

i alwaaaays wanted to watch this show but never got around to do it so i was really happy when you guys started to react to it. its always better whatching things with company. ad i saw people pointing out that the pawn (beth) travelled across (the states) to the other end of the board (russia) and changes into a queen to check the king (borgov), with the queens gambit. like hell yeah. also, i loved the ending bcs beth was an orphan who grew up playing only against mister shaibel and that most of the time kept to herself. but she finally learned to let people in. then walked out of the car after winning because the ambassador kept praising her for "beating the soviets" and rather than dealing with that she went to the park (in russia) to play chess with a group of common people. they were so excited to see her and she was excited to see them too. all because they love chess. that's what it's all about: community. and i guess thats also why everybody was so graceous and elegant even after losing. like oak, this one of my favorite things about this show.

Answer - if you're excited to get back into chess, I recommend looking at Magnus Carlsen's YouTube channel - he was the World Champion from 2013 to 2023, and he is currently the #1 player in the world in the FIDE rankings, a position he's held since 2011. Here's a video in which he talks about his favorite match from the miniseries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZfPa-GMxMI

Thank You for the double drop. Awesome move!

I don't know if you guys noticed, but Beth at the end, when she walks to the park, she's wearing a white hat and a white coat. She looks like a chess piece; the white queen. The 'white queen visual' also ties back to when she changed her pawn into a queen during Borgov's game. A metaphor of her being a pawn, the weakest piece, into a queen, the strongest. She's now free to move in any direction. It's so symbolic and beautiful.
