I truly don't think he actually saw this season, just thought he did. He can recall/quote s2/3 of Walking Dead from what, 15 years ago and not this season which is only 3 years old?

One of the character's memories is represented as countless filing boxes, and every once in a while he tosses out some old boxes to make space for new ones. I think that's what's happening to Mason Quinn.
