Zoetropes, Robots, Prototypes!

Hello Everyone!

Hope everyone's holiday is going great!

I wanted to let you know that work has begun on the next album! It will be a collection of (very) uptempo electro-turntable tracks (currently 10 tracks) that will be integrated into one of my favorite live events that we have hosted over the past several years... Robot Dance Party!

I thought it would be kinda fun if the album included some sort of zoetrope kit that could act as a mirrored zoetrope/disco ball. So you can turn your turntable set up into a mini-dance club!

The clip above is a prototype for an 8 panel zoetrope Corinne has been designing for the album artwork. There are a couple tracks on the album that are set at 133.33 bpm (4 beats per revolution). If you were to play one of those tracks and watch the zoetrope, it would look like the robot was dancing on tempo! LOL.

I also thought of maybe animating a robot playing a drum kit. But I'm not sure I could synchronize the kick/snare with the animation as the exact placement (rotation wise) of each center sticker on the record is determined at the vinyl pressing plant and changes for each disc pressed. Anyhow still working it out! Maybe we could have a contest to see if anyone gets one that is perfectly synced that they could upload a video of it working perfectly on time! Anyhow, just having fun playing around with some album package ideas!
