As you may know, the plan is to release a new small video every other month and work on 50 Ways to Die in Elden Ring in the Lands time between. Since it was October, I decided to make a Halloween-themed 50 Ways to Live for the semi-monthly small video, so that’s what I’ve been working on this month. I’m writing this the day before Halloween (or Halloweenween, if you will) and, of the video’s estimated 8-and-a-half minute length, only 4-and-a-quarter minutes have been animated, so it’s not looking like this next one will be ready for Halloween. Once again, my imagination wrote a check that my production schedule couldn’t cash.
My original plan was to spend 2 weeks every month making a small video and spend the rest of the month working on 50 Ways to Die in Elden Ring, but the small videos kept requiring more and more time to finish until there was no more time left for Elden Ring at all. At first, that wasn’t really a problem because it seemed like the small videos were going to do well enough to save the channel all by themselves, but the failures of School House Rules and This is Dragon Country made it clear that I need to get that Elden Ring video made after all.
Since the next 50 Ways to Live video isn’t going to be finished before November, I’m going to need some of November to finish it up. How much of it? I don’t know. It could be just one week, it could be three. Previously, if production on a 50 Ways to Live video went on longer than a month, I’d use whatever was left over of that month to work on Elden Ring, and then get back to work on 50 Ways to Live when the start of the next month came. So if production on 50 Ways to Live went into overtime for half a month, I’d only end up working on 50 Ways to Die for the other half of that month.
I’m not going to let 50 Ways to Die in Elden Ring get sidelined like that anymore. From now on, if 50 Ways to Live production goes on for over a month, instead of only using what remains of the next month to work on 50 Ways to Die, I’ll make sure to work on it for a full 30 days before starting work on the next 50 Ways to Live. On top of that, I’m going to approach 50 Ways to Live as though they were trailers for 50 Ways to Die videos from now on.
Usually, when I get to the point of making the trailer for a 50 Ways to Die, I feel like I’m already done with the main event and I just need to make a simple skit to let everyone know the next video’s coming. I don’t feel like putting a lot of time into it because its real purpose is to announce the next video.
That’s the energy I’m gonna put into these 50 Ways to Live videos from now on. Just something quick and dirty to let the algorithm know I’m not dead yet that I can make in 2 weeks or less. No more than 2 locations, no more than 3 characters, and no more than 4 minutes. That’s what they were always supposed to be.

That’s a smart way of doing it. That’s how it was with the RedStoneNed video that kicked off the monthly vids
