I heard that he was supposed to be a girl in the original concept, but the idea got scrapped.

I remember Ratchet, he is a cool character. My most fond memories of him are from the Transformers Prime show. Good times. Great work with their art pieces. Though, I do wonder why would Autobots need glasses? Seems unnecessary for living machines. It is still an interesting interpretation.
