Discussing upcoming video and video ideas
Added 2022-01-17 09:46:31 +0000 UTCDoing the research for the upcoming video there are a few things I wanted to discuss with you, and I also wanted to talk about some video ideas with you before I put them on the to-do list.
1. Regarding the next video after Greece. My main intention in covering the collapse of the Hungarian kingdom and Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth, was to show how the aristocracies of those two countries undermined the central state and thereby created an economic and political enviorment that caused an increasing decline and eventual collapse of those countries.
The main thing I wish to discuss with this topic is how "Oligarchy" or the establishment of a political structure of Oligarchy, is one of the single most dangerous things that can happen to a society. I want to use this opportunity to also make a critizism of liberalism, which may be funny since I am a liberal myself, but it is one of the core weaknesses of liberal democracy that it has a tendency to empower unelected oligarchic structures.
Doing the research I was wondering if you would be ok with me expanding the topic beyong 12th century Hungary and 16th century Poland, to also include 14th century Venice, and the 19th century U.S.A, to go more in-depth in discussing the political developments that can create oligarchies and what their consequences are?
2. Here are some video ideas I recently had and wanted to run by you before I put them on the to-do list for future votes:
I: How the trans-atlantic slave trade destroyed West African pre-colonial kingdoms by making them dependant on foreign resource economies, creating a violence-based economy that destablized society, and stiffled any and all economic innovation.
II: The forgotten kingddom of Burgundy. How there once used to be a Dutchy of Burgundy. An almost forgotten country that rivaled with the house of Capet for rule of France and lost. Basically a video that would have very little to no political educational material in it, and would just be an entirely history based video on a kingdom that no longer exists.
III: Colonial legacies. A video series debunking popular myths about post-colonial studies and examining what the legacies of various colonial empires are.
IV: India and Pakistan: How to destroy cultural heritage. Ever since I made that China - India video, and the aggressivbe reaction I got from Hindu nationalists, I cant help but have a desire to kick that hindu-nationalist hornets nest. I find Hindu nationalists to be some of the most obnoxious and dumbest religious fanatics out there, no better than their islamist counterparts. And I would love, with your permission, to make a video about how these people are destroying the rich cultural heritage of their country just as much as Islamist extremists in Pakistan are.

Colonial legacies
2022-01-19 16:32:50 +0000 UTCThose all sound fantastic. Would love to see a video of yours based on the colonial topic, I want to learn more but am apprehensive about a good amount of the material / discourse around it
2022-01-18 06:59:38 +0000 UTCI love all of those ideas, and find all of them to be really interesting topics I would love to see you explore. Not gonna lie though, seeing your enthusiasm for kicking the Hindu nationalist hornet's nest puts that directly at the top of things I want to see now.

2022-01-18 03:23:57 +0000 UTCRegarding idea 1 on future videos, Jabzy has done an in-depth video series over the past year on this topic. Just an FYI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIcNzN0zmqU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxk8Mqw-zHI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_qey8QfzY0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8n3kCuMcPE
2022-01-18 01:54:28 +0000 UTCAgree with Theodosius here, I think that adding the topic of 19th Century US, to the Hungarian/ Polish-Lithuanian video, might be a bit of an overreach. I like the idea of including Venice though. Definitely seems more like it fits in with the theme and the time period. Ideally, consider making a video about capitalistic monopolisation and the creation of oligarchies in 19th and 20th Century US as its own video. That would be awesome. The era of mining, railroad, and oil magnates is especially interesting and it is oddly, sparsely covered on youtube.

2022-01-17 21:06:32 +0000 UTC1. Add Vencice and US, absolutely yes. Thank you for your work! I am looking forward to watch the video. I am pretty sure you knew, but let me add that we (Hungarians) had a 10 years period in the beginning of the 13th century exactly called the Oligarchy or the Interregnum. Might be relevant, might not. Here is a wikipedia link to it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Hungary_(1301%E2%80%931526)#Interregnum_(1301%E2%80%931323)
2022-01-17 17:43:58 +0000 UTCWould love to see the video about India and Pakistan
2022-01-17 15:46:51 +0000 UTCWould this be a proper place where to suggest topics for future videos?

2022-01-17 15:32:58 +0000 UTCThe ideas around colonial legacies and Hindu nationalism are super interesting. If I may, can I suggest a few things: 1. Do understand the roots of Hindu nationalism both from colonial legacy perspective (the British policy of divide and rule) and the wounded civilisation perspective. They may not be rational, but they are widespread. 2. Do keep into account the failings of the secularism project of independent India and how the sidelining of conservative intellectuals by Nehru (C Rajagopalachari etc) actually did disservice to the secularism project and serves as a warning to secularists across the world to reason and not impose themselves on others 3. Finally we Indians tend to be suspicious of white saviours trying to tell us 'how to be better'. If you come across as such, you would lose even the more reasonable ones among us. Also, if you even need someone to help you translate the video to Hindi free of cost do let me know. Hindutva is a majorly Indo-gangetic belt project, and more the sane voices reach them in the language they understand better it is :)
2022-01-17 13:32:28 +0000 UTCI would love to see the India and Pakistan video. I learnt a lot from your previous videos about India.

2022-01-17 12:21:17 +0000 UTCWould love to learn about Burgundy and how it disappeared even if there is no political connection. The West Africa one also sounds amazing with more to learn about current world consequences.
2022-01-17 11:40:59 +0000 UTCHi Kraut, I like your ideas about including Venice. 19th Century USA is another beast all unto itself, and I fear including it might do more unintended harm than good. I like ideas II and I. Regarding IV, perhaps make a video about cultural revolution / heritage in general and use Hindu nationalism as an example. Looking forward to your future work!
