Something I wanted to clarify about the "Culture Wars" topic
Added 2022-06-02 11:27:31 +0000 UTCThere is something I wanted to talk about with you.
There seems to be a misconception regarding a topic on the list of topics I want to cover. "Culture Wars" - the video series about the origins of the American political structures, is a topic proposal that garnered a lot of critizism by many of you, for being supposedly about the media culture war in the united states.
Nope, it is not about the culture war. I am talking about "Culture" with a big "C". As in, "Culture" as a foundation of political, communal, religious, artistic, and economic practices. This confusion in part is my own fault, I should have clarified this from the beginning. I do not believe that American political insitutions were built on petty "culture war" squabbling. No, I believe the foundation of the American political insitution are the practices, communal norms, expressions, religious practices, and compromises made between different "Cultures" with a "big C".
Those Cultures are the individualistic Spanish settler Culture of Northern Mexico, Colorado, and Texas. The Carribean Colonial Spanish plantation Culture found inFlorida, the Dutch Capitalism and Commerce orientated Culture of New York, The Scottish Presbyterian communalism of the Appalachians, the pacifist Scandinavian protestantism of Delaware, The aristocratic ambitions of the first English trade companies to settle the Chesapeak bay, the fake aristocracy created by the slavery of the South, the rugged and pragmatic multicultural individualism of French settlers in Louisiana and Maine, the strickt and ruthless religious communal rules of New England puritans, the Mittelstand socio-economic structure of the Mid-West German settler, the accidental multiculturalism of California, and the defensive Culture of distrust and defensiveness that developed in the West.
These are in my opinion the foundation of the American political insitution. The video series would not be about the annoying rambling on places like Fox News or MSNBC. No, it would be about how, in my opinion, these Cultures created the modern United States.
I hope this clarifies my intentions :)

I personally would've preferred the other culture wars but this is interesting too
