Management Changes

Hey everyone. Looking back at the last year of work the one thing that bothers me the most is my own inconsistency in work. I go through these very silly cycles in which I overwork myself, then am burntout and do nothing for an entire month, and then overwork myself again. Additionally I start too many projects at once, and then do not finish any at all because I work at 4 things at the same time.

A glaring example of this is the last month. I have been working on a video about Neutrality in Europe, A critique of cultural determinism, The Legacies of the ottoman Empire, and Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian shared history, all at the same time... and in the end I didn't get anything done at all. For a year I have also now worked on a long series on the history of the Netherlands, bought over 8000 pages worth of history books, and am not getting anywhere.

So I am going to put a stop to this unorganised chaos. I have a friend who used to work in business management. He is now making a youtube channel in which he wants to teach people economics. He noticed my awful chaos. And he is going to take a position of basically being my "boss". He will take charge of my work process, he will command me what to do, he will be setting me deadlines and he will try to prevent me from collapsing into chaotic unorganised messes again. In return I will be promoting his youtube channel on mine.

I hope through this change this awful mess that has been building up in backlogs and disorganisation of content-creation will finally resolve itself, and I will be able to bring you more and better content, faster, and on time.

Ah, this is very relatable. Learning to say no to projects at work has been key, to preserve bandwidth for the projects that are already going on. I think it's a problem lots of people have, especially when in an environment where you can choose what to do and everything looks really interesting. Best of luck

An advice for you kraut. When you decide to research something, maybe talk to someone who knows the topic well so that you have a general understanding of it and can focus on specific points of interest. As a Dutch person I am can give you a general overview of Dutch history. Not in order. ……………………………………………………… - [ ] Dutch Revolt and Independence from Spain The Dutch Republic - [ ] World War 2 - [ ] The Franco-Dutch wars - [ ] The Dutch East Indian company(VOC) - [ ] The Dutch Golden Age

Hope you manage to get things figured out. I have found personally that when surrounded by other people who hold expectation on what I should be doing is when I get my best work done. Sort of like a pseudo peer pressure. If I’m home alone, whatever I am working on gets sidetracked easily. Just my personal experience. Hope this helps!

This seems very promising. I'm also willing to help in any way I can but I'm sure you have plenty of people for that. With that said I help these changes will work out for you.
