German Ostpolitik and Polish Realism
Added 2023-05-20 05:23:10 +0000 UTCI took a week to write a script. Because i think it is an important one. It goes through the development of German foreign policy in the East after the second world war (called Ostpolitik). And i recount in the script how and why i believe it failed.
The Script also tell the story of Polish post-cold-war foreign policy. it's origins and why it led to a foreign policy success.
At the end I give a little bit of commentary and thoughts. I would like to hear your thoughts on this and if you think it should be made into a video.
here is a link to the script: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eCaX2ywEchTK-8qBpgTY9rqJI1cDOlH35LGY0gaWrbQ/edit?usp=sharing

Please make this a video! Please! I’m also wondering: would taking a view of American foreign policy since 1945 be too well-trod ground? Especially with regards to Iraq, seeing as this year is the 20th anniversary? You regularly bring it up in your videos and was the turning point for so many people both inside and outside the us. Your perspective of internal institutional dynamics would be enlightening and critical. Though, as I said, it IS well-trod ground. Yet when I look it up on YouTube, all I see are reports from news networks rather than from YouTubers. You regularly note a particular American viewpoint, the one who sneers at European Active Neutrality, who seems to love conflict for its own sake. I would argue, and would love to hear your thoughts on this idea, that this perspective is a particular product of American institutional dynamics that may have been justified in the 20th century but is simply mental intertia now. That it is pure ideological thinking that was made to fight communism and domestic isolationism. And that it is not an effective tool for understanding our world now. Would that be a worthy discussion? Maybe it’s old hat. Or is already happening on the Discord. I don’t really use discord tbh.
