Script: Critiquing Cultural Determinism
Added 2023-09-20 06:49:05 +0000 UTCI know some of you, in particular one of you, already knew I was writing this script. i have been at it for a while and rewritten it several times. I hope this version works, and it is my final attempt. But i would still like to know all of your opinions on it:

I know this is an old post but I just renewed my subscription and I wanna say I'm loving this script do far. One thing I will suggest, and I apologize if I'm missing the point or if you address this later down (it's 3am for me, idk if I'll finish reading lol), but I would change describing culture as stagnant by itself rather than fundamentally stagnant.

2024-02-26 11:12:57 +0000 UTCMaybe it will help if you highlight that the the word "institution" has multiple meanings: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/institution I've always understood that you were using it in the broader sense ("a significant practice, relationship, or organization in a society or culture") but maybe not enough people are aware that the word can be used in this way.

Even suggesting you were mad at what someone said will generate drama that you apparently dislike. Overall I also think you put a bit to much emphasis on what institutions mean, when it's a very broadly defined word to begin with. Personally I think many people can be forgiven for having the wrong idea what kind of institution you mean . As it's basically a bit like a trade jargon that in my opinion needs more lingual definition to differentiate between different kinds of institutions when talking to a more general unsuspecting audience.

Having this video be in any way a reaction lessens its value, maybe even wait longer so this sour situation dies down in everyone's thoughts. Good script though, just my thoughts on the first paragraph

I am planing to show it to a friend who believes that European Protestantism is enough to bring advancement. Ireland, Switzerland and in the futere Poland are contrudictions to this arguement. I will wait.
