Foot shells.. option 2

I'm doing an alternative design for the outer foot shell. The simple two part shell can give fairly difficult warping issues. This is a multiple part kit which is looking clean and warp free. Each work just giving more options :-)

Happy printing,

Mike,

Foot shells.. option 2

Do you think either design would be suitable for using as a shell over a traditional drive system? Hoping to print only the shell to use in conjunction with my wood legs & aluminum drives.

Great ideas Michael. Thanks. Keep up the awesome work.

The print looks superb! Very nice. I welded it in place (using acetone and ABS) just on an edge to edge contact. You can use gorilla glue (superglue) gel and baking soda as an instant way of holding in place whilst the weld takes hold or tape. However it's probably not the easiest part to hold in place so I'll take a look at that part again. Even a small printed clip which temporarily supports it may help.

Woohoo! I printed a thing! Thanks Michael :) <a href="http://imgur.com/a/ZqcLo" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://imgur.com/a/ZqcLo</a> There's a link to a couple pictures of the left foot printed in PETG, which is a filament that I've had quite a bit of success with (chemically welds well with Weldon 3). I'm wondering if there are any suggestions for securing parts D and G (the sides where the battery boxes go). The flat top parts of D and G rest nicely against Cor2 and Cor3, but their radius along the bottom don't really seem to have much to secure to. Any suggestions? Thanks!

OK, I've just cut a FootCover, it's in the Public Share, in Archive, Foot Covers. There's a two part one (A&amp;B) or combined for larger printers. I've added a couple of alignment holes for 1.75mm filament to ease gluing on the two parter.

great

Hi, I can cut one out fairly easily. I'll see if I can do it this week.

Do you just have the cover for the foot available the flat piece with the moon to.put over an older foot I have laying around?

Hi, yes absolutely. After a few years of experimenting an enclosure is critical, bed I keep at 105-110. The print surface is another thing that makes a big difference (adherence to the surface). The best I've used is PEI, I have this on both printers and it's superb. Other things are infil, the denser, the more warping and recommend honeycomb as it pulls less.

Question are you using an enclosure when you are printing with ABS or are you just upping the temp on the bed? I have been attempting to use ABS on some other projects for its Chemical Weld ability but have become very frustrated with the warping.
