Dome reworking

I've done quite a bit of rework on the R7 dome to test some changes. Basically whilst the separate panels are easy to paint, they're harder to get fixed in and aligned, so I've added the panels into the design. Also I've found I can add a 70 degree angle on the details, which means no support for the line detail. Sooo, it's an easy print (hopefully) and means we can pretty much print these, chip out the four supports in the panels and it's good to go!!! Love refining the designs to make it easy. I've got to do the 200 cut but so far so good!!!

Happy printing,

Mike,

Dome reworking

Oh - I almost forgot... I printed the dome pieces in PETG with 20% infil --- turned out amazing, again aside from those tiny supports. :) I wish the upgraded dome was available in 200mm.

Thank you Mike for developing the R7 dome, and splitting it for 200mm printers was awesome timing for us. R7 is our second droid, and the dome is amazing aside from cutting out all the tiny supports. I had to modify dome 8 because of the framing behind the four front logics, and the rib adjoining dome 1. . The framing would not allow me to install the RSeries logics. For starters, the RSeries logics were not designed to be installed close together, so I also had to modify those parts by cutting the ends off of the logics. The ribs that join dome 1 and dome 8 had to be cut out similar to dome 4-6, but in reverse. Meaning, the rib is not present nearest the front logic, but begins about 10mm above the top edge of the logics. I'm a beginner to Fusion 360, so I fought through Microsoft's 3D builder to remove the frames and modify. In the end, the object file is ugly, but it printed out what I needed to hopefully install the front logics without further modification.

Not having support in the detail lines is a huge plus to the final finish.

R7 is planned to be my second droid and now you make it easier to build. You are awesome.

I’m Nearly ready to start printing this one .
