BD-1 update

Hey, so BD-1 is now in the last run to finish. I’ve tested all the new designs and added the print files to the Patreon Share under wip folder. We’ve got everything except the head cover and ears, I’ve just got to add two Servos for the ears, a couple of mech pieces around the eyes and the main build is done. I will circle back and take a look at the leg lift mechanism once I’ve printed it all and built it. I suspect the weight will mean I’ll have to use some form of counter spring as the leg extenders to multiply the force needed but overall it’s a lovely model, really love this build and it’s seems pretty solid!

Next the coding and control. I’ve kept it simple and cheap, using cables rather than any remote and I’ll design a puppeting rig combined with done automation and sound.

The rear head lights are the other thing which I’ll add shortly, still waiting on an electronic solution so suspect I’ll get everything else done whilst I wait.

Anyhow, happy printing. This fellow is one of the easiest to print and build. I’ll add instructions also shortly but if you feel brave the files are in the Wip folder, start from the base and work up. The fusion files for reference are also shared, filter the posts by dedicated Patreons and you’ll see the link :-)

Mike :-)

Comments

It’s in the early bird folder on the Patreon share.

How do I find the Patreon share files or the .stl files for BD-1?

Donald R Coulter

I've been in a Astromechanic fest in Spain and someone told me about you, so now my goal right now is to complete a wired up robot and I'd love this one to be my first :D

Thank you :-)

Hyped to see this finished, you are the best

Charley Letham

Awesome! I was just thinking about searching to see if anyone had started a design and lo and behold you're almost done.

Michael

I started a few days ago with the mainbase. Thanks.

It's very cute!
