It was so hard to come up with a title for this one (couldn't call it "Orym and Hobbes") and then it was so obvious! =D So, Will and Orym from Critical Role as kids, probably ten-ish. (Does Orym ever actually say he and Will grew up together, or is that fanon?)
I love the colours here. Going digital was an obvious choice. The Swan Knight had wrestled with me a lot worse than I thought he would, and I'm in a slump of sorts again when it comes to coloured pencils. The large portraits are fine as long as I don't put in much detail to bring out with colour afterwards, and my work process hasn't fully comprehended that yet.
Still in the light of that, I've had a bitter realisation packing and sleeving prints for MagicCon this weekend. I'd spread them all out on the bed to see how many I had of which print, and sleeving prints from 2017, then from 2020, and then from 2022, was tough - picking up things like "The Hunt "(2017) and seeing these tiny faces that I couldn't even fully make out, let alone remember how on earth I had done those five years ago, and then picking up a rather roughly coloured Vax.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad I can still create. I'm still happy with the results, and not even less often than I was in 2017 (boy, did I get frustrated with my art a lot in 2017!). And especially when I do digital, I don't really realise how big I have to go in order for things to look as intricate as I want them.
I don't get these dark moments often. But that was certainly one of them.
And in those moments, I'm always glad for y'all. <3
