Rollback is out, thanks for all the support

I just want to say thank you to all my new patrons. Supporting here makes it possible for me to continue working on and supporting the scene long term. Without your help, none of this would be possible.

I know many of you have sent me messages and I really appreciate that! I haven't been able to go through them all yet as I've been focused on working out some issues with the release but I promise to go through them once I get a chance.

Thank you so much Fizzi! This game means the world to me

Fizzi Thanks so much for this Amazing online fans game. Thanks From Dominican Republic.

fizzi you are the goat

It's on the roadmap

Do you think Slippi will ever get a ranked system that sets up you up with someone based on skill level relative to other skills level? I keep getting either PUNISHED hard or I'm the PUNISHER. XD

Don´t you ever waste time answering me! It´s absolutely not necessary. You´re doing enough. Sincerely!

As a long time spectator of Melee, I've just played Melee for the first time with other people in 10+ years. The most fun I've had in a while. Your team have done an amazing job, not only on the improvements of netplay, but also lowering the barrier to entry. I literally decided to try Slippi out and was playing online in a few minutes. Thank you!

Phenomenal job, it's amazing how much this'll impact the outlook of melee. Netplay tourneys with rollback?? omgggg

Beggy BeggBegg

If this were released as a brand new game, I'd gladly pay 60$ without including the monthly subscription.

This is amazing work, thank you! Unfortunately you've now left me with without any excuses for sucking though, haha.

Fizzi will probably answer but imho: the purpose of this version - no stage selection neither ranked mode, is here for a purpose and is certainly not suitable for tournaments. I guess Fizzi is getting a lot of feedbacks and ranked mode (+ tournament mode?) is on the list! So next version should have the stage selection somewhere.

Charlon

A tourney near me said they wouldn't use netplay rollback because of no stage selection (FM v5.9). Do you think you'll eventually integrate that?

1) Probably eventually 2) Very soon, this week for sure 3) Most likely wont happen for a long time, it's quite complicated

Hi Fizzi, I've been a fan/patron since the beginning :D 1) Do you plan to integrate with UnclePunch? 2) When do you think mac version will be available? 3) Are teams matchmaking something you thought about?

Charlon

No thank you

Thank you for making the seemingly impossible possible! I could not imagine in my wildest dreams that there could exist something like matchmaking with a CRT-like response that even works cross country. Feels just as playing on the Gamecube with a CRT, just with better graphics thanks to the Dolphin part :P I've been inactive in the Melee scene for like 5 years, basicly picking the game up a few times a year, but I feel like it could be possible for me to get into Melee again thanks to how easy it is to just play with the matchmaking in Slippi. Thank you very much! Cheers from "Tonberry" (Norway).

Yo man , you deserve much more and im happy to subscribe

Literally the timing of this release was a godsend. Right when a world pandemic is out and all tournaments are cancelled, you release the best online melee there can be. Pro gamer move.

I created a Patreon account just for you

Your work does not go unappreciated, even by casuals and lurkers. My non-competitive melee-loving friends are having a blast. You are doing amazing things for the community. Keep up the incredible work

THANK YOU, YOU HAVE A PATRON FOR LIFE

You are literally the closest thing to God I've ever seen

Slippi 1.0 was already amazing but this new Rollback is a real game changer. Thank you for all your hard work! Glad to see the Patreon numbers shoot up the past few days.

You're a fucking God dude. We need to spread the message of our lord and savior fizzi far and wide.

I grew up with the game from its release, but the documentary really brought me into the scene when it came out. This has potential to bring a new generation of players and bring old ones back. This feels like melee 2 and I cant put it down despite not playing for a few years. Thank you so much for your work. Completely amazing

No thank you man!! Shout out from a fan simply excited to start getting to melee more. I have some friends across the country that now it's effortless to play. You deserve all the kudos and support.

Andie Gray

Big thanks for your effort and all others who contributed to this release of Slippi. Truly admireable stuff you're all doing for not only Melee itself but for all other Communities as an example for what is possible. And most importantly, it shows the world how important rollback is to the players.

Patrick Werner

Fizzi, you have spurred the advent of a new Melee era. We need to add a bit here and include you in the Melee HoF: https://www.ssbwiki.com/Super_Smash_Bros._Melee_in_competitive_play Since release, I have seen and heard of many new players checking out the scene, and personally can now play with some of my best Melee buddies even though we live cross-country now -- thanks to your contributions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :) #SaviorOfMelee

Thank you for making it!! With the situation most of us are in at the moment. You making this has saved 2020 for a lot of people. I couldn't play Melee online until now because of internet problems. You making this has saved me so much stress!!!!!!!

Suke

Savior of melee during Covid!! Shoutouts from the Connecticut smash scene.
