JinCustoms - MCU Age of Ultron Hulk

There was a LOT of drama surrounding this fig… or rather, the fig that came before it...

To simplify the story, JinCustoms had “announced” they were making an Avengers MidFig Hulk back in August 2024. It's perfect and beautiful and well designed and looks like this!

Only there was a twist. You see, Jin had apparently only made 100 of this fig right here^ back in 2024 with no preorder window. Deciding instead to sell them in real life brick and mortar “Collectable Stores” in Hong Kong. Super weird, right? Especially when you consider how their standard listings had gone; always on the internet through a reseller… or at least they used to…

Anyway, when Jin announced that first MCU Hulk fig to the World Wide Web, 90% of the stock was already sold. Yeah, you read that right. Jin only sold TEN of these figs internationally.

What the heck were they thinking?!

Naturally me and a lot of other collectors were quite angry. Enough to go full Hulk mode and well… there’s more to this story for my own experience with that fig, but you can read more about it in those two links up there^^

So perhaps due to peer pressure, Jin made another Hulk! But not the same Hulk! No no no true beliver! This is a fig made by JinCustoms, and Jin can be weirdly narcissistic about their products and refused to produce more of that original design!

So instead we got this Age of Ultron version! A fig that the top half looks great, and the bottom half looks a little weird. All thanks to those long pajama shorts he’s wearing!

That original Hulk design with the ripped pants lended itself perfectly to this cool knee joint concept. In order to attach a leg, you need that full arch of clearance to install it. It looked fun on the original design!

But here where the little Avengers branded stretchy pants are intended to look clean, sharp, and athletic, the back and exposed sides of the legs look just sorta weird… I mean I should say that I don’t hate the new one! But you can clearly see how the roots of the design bloom better with the original ripped pants.

If I wanna take it a step further the other direction and show some positiviy for a change, I think I like this new hair better! The material (or possibly the gloss) used gives it a nicer shine than the last fig!

As for the the Hulk-y elements, there's nothing new compared to the last version’s poseability. Although my particular copy has some loose joints for the left leg and both arms that could be due to regional temperature 🤷🏻‍♂️

The torso is nice and clean on the inside too!

Then of course what little print is actually on the fig parts looks sharp! But gosh those shorts just look too dang long!

It’s also got a handful of new expressions that well… hold on, let me take another step back…

This big green fella originally retailed for $140. That initial fig only included the two faces with the red “Scarlet Witch eyes”. Thankfully Jin was pressured due to the first fig’s debacle, to include more expressions without red eyes. But ever the capitalist, Jin opted to go the DLC route with an add-on purchase for another $15! Or as they have now branded it, a “Jin+ Product” 🙄

Hell, if I wanted to, I could’ve even spent another $50 on top of that to have gotten the “deluxe fig” that only included another pair of legs with a slightly different design (based off of concept art if I understood correctly)

The math implies to me that this fig for all it’s bells and whistles (at the original retail price) would’ve set ya back by about $200! Ooof! That's like four MRM figs for the price of one!

But ya know at the end of the day, I think I finally realized something about Jin…

Artificially limits products ✅
Difficult to work with ✅
Overpriced Figs ✅
Incredible quality and design ✅

I’m gonna declare it once and for all! Jin is the new Christo 🤷🏻‍♂️
