Tuesday Showcase #35: Restarting Chapter 45

Hello everyone, and welcome to another Tuesday Showcase!

It's a special one today. If you've followed the game over the last week, you may know what I'm talking about, and you may understand why today isn't a release day. For everyone else though, and for those that want more details, here are some details about what happened with version 0.23.

What happened?

Chapter 45 was planned as talks with Laura about the kind of things you might enjoy having Laura do with other people. Things like threesomes, bondage, lesbian sex, etc...

At the same time, following a poll made here, this chapter was taking place in a hot spring, on a romantic weekend with Laura.

The issue is that, while planning this chapter, I didn't properly think about the way these two elements connected with each other. Basically, being at the same place than Laura means you had barely any reason to talk via texts. On the other hand, the kinks talk required you to mostly talk through texts. If you were in the same place, though, why wouldn't you have done it face to face?

While this issue seems quite obvious, I took some time to realize how many problems it was causing. It didn't help that I got sick for an entire week, but that's basically irrelevant.

As a result, I spent a long time stubbornly trying to make these two topics work together.

The end result was a hodgepodge of excuses to make talks happen via texts, sabotaging the whole romantic weekend setup, while making the kink talks ridiculously shoehorned.

I could probably have saved the chapter if I had realized the problems earlier, but I didn't. As a result, I couldn't save any of the two chapter's elements. Both stories were too linked (ridiculously so, but still) for me to get anything useful from them.

I hope you'll forgive me for these issues. I promise to do my best to be better in the future.

Going back home

So, here we are: following a poll asking Supporters for their opinion, I scrapped my work on Chapter 45, and restarted it from scratch. With a new setup this time, allowing me to focus on the kink talks itself.

So, in this new version of Chapter 45, Laura is going back to her home town for a few days. With you two being separated, and after the events of the previous chapters, this is a perfect occasion for the kinks talk!

So, when is version 0.23 releasing?

The short answer is "I don't know".

With a lot of work already having been done on the Kinks system, Chapter 45 itself will probably be relatively easy to write (it's already on its way). But, after such a delay, I'm not sure releasing just Chapter 45 would be a good idea, especially considering that Chapters 46 and 47 will be linked to it.

So, I'll have to see when I actually release this new version. At best, it will be on June 24th, a week after the planned date. At worst, it will be on July 8th, meaning the game will have skipped a release (but will have much more content when it's finally available).

I can't make any guarantees right now though.

What's happening to the hot springs though?

The hot springs chapter will still happen, only a bit later. I have a dozen pictures of Laura wearing a yukata or bathing in the springs, and I'm definitely planning on using them!
