The Picnic Baby Chapters 7 and 8

CHAPTER 7

“I can help you carry that.” Dylan said to Melony.

“It’s ok Dylan I can manage; besides you’ve got your hands full with your dirty clothes.” She teased

Dylan did his best to hold the bundle of clothing out in front him, attempting to try and cover his Diaper. Luckily there was no one in the car park and they managed to reach the car without anyone noticing Dylan’s lack of clothing and the thick Diaper wrapped between his legs.

“Do you need help with your seat belt Dylan? Or do you think you can manage.” Melony said laughing, as she buckled herself in.

“I just want this day to be over.” Dylan whined. “We’re not really going to Elaine’s place for dinner are we?”

“Of course we are! I want to meet her and thank her for giving you the diaper.” Melony said as she pulled out of the car park.

“But it was her fault in the first place, her dog knocked me over.” Dylan whined.

“Is it her fault you wet your pants? No, I didn’t think so. You should be thankful that she had something you could wear, otherwise you would have ended up with a rash staying in wet clothing for so long.”

The rest of the trip was spent in silence; Dylan sat staring sulkily out the front window. Soon today would be over with, he thought to himself. Once they arrived home he could change, then he just had to sit through an awkward dinner at a stranger’s house. After that he could forget that this day had ever happened. He shuffled around in his seat adjusting himself and looked down at the crinkly padding between his legs. It had become bunched up so he tried adjusting it. Melony noticed and smirked, as he awkwardly shifted around to get more comfortable in his diaper. Eventually the car pulled into their driveway and Dylan quickly hopped out rushing for the door. He suddenly remembered he didn’t have his keys and realized he was standing on the front porch in nothing but a diaper. He quickly started to panic and carefully looked around making sure no one had seen him. Thankfully no one was around to see him in his embarrassing underwear and lack of clothing.

“Can you please hurry!” He called after Melony.

“Maybe if you weren’t in such a hurry and offered to help I would. Now you can just wait there while I unload everything.”

Melony took her time grabbing the picnic gear from the boot of the car. Eventually she made her way to the front door and started to unlock it.

“Oh by the way you left your wet clothes in the car.” She told Dylan.

“It doesn’t matter I can grab them when I get changed.” He said impatiently.

“No I don’t think so, if you leave your wet clothes in my car it might start smelling like your pee so you can go out and get them now.”

Dylan was quickly feeling increasingly more anxious about being seen dressed the way he was. He has a pained expression on his face but knew how stubborn Melony could be; there was no changing her mind. He looked out at their car parked on the drive way, it was probably only fifteen meters away but that had never looked so far before now. He arched his head around the wall craning his neck to get a better look of their neighbourhood. Satisfied no one was around he waddled from the safety of the porch to the car. He saw his wet clothes through the window on the boot and pulled at the back door lock which refused to move.

“The cars locked.” He called out desperately.

“Sorry, that was my bad.” Melony said grinning to herself. “Try now.” She called out to Dylan after pressing the button twice.

Dylan once again tried unsuccessfully to open the boot.

“Melony please I know you did that on purpose.” He whined.

“I most certainly didn’t.” Melony gasped. “If you can’t figure out how to open the boot properly then I’ll come do it.”

Dylan was painfully aware that Melony was obviously toying with him as she purposely walked slowly toward him. Finally she stopped messing with him and unlocked the boot of the car.

“Hey Mrs Morris!” Melony suddenly called out.

Dylan froze; he turned and looked toward the neighbour’s yard to see their elderly neighbour checking her letterbox. She turned and looks toward Dylan and Melony, smiling sweetly she made her way over to them.

“Hello there dear, oh my, Dylan what happened to your clothes?” Mrs Morris asked him.

Dylan stood there mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, unable to say anything.

“Poor Dylan had an accident so he had to be put back in a diaper.” Melony said patting his back.

“Well it looks like you did a fine job of it, aren’t you lucky to have a girl like Melony looking after you Dylan?” Mrs Morris said kindly.

“Actually his mummy put him back in his diaper it happened while we were out having a picnic.” Melony explained.

“Oh how is Cheryl doing, I haven’t seen her around here in a while now.” Mrs Morris said absentmindedly changing the subject.

Dylan quickly gave up and sat down on the edge of the car boot, trying to cover as much of the diaper as possible with his hands. The two women quickly get to gossiping and chat for another ten minutes or so before Melony finally announced it was time she took Dylan inside so they could get ready for dinner.

“Oh that reminds me, I might have something to help poor Dylan out with his problem, won’t be a moment.” Mrs Morris said casually before walking back to her house.

“Can you please just give me the key so I can go inside?” Dylan begged.

Melony just shushed him and told him to be patient. Eventually Mrs Morris returned holding a pink plastic potty clutched between her hands, which she then promptly handed to Dylan.

“When my granddaughter came to visit she wasn’t ready for the grown up toilet yet, so we left this out in the living room to make it easier for her to get to. She’s out grown it now and we have no use for it, I thought maybe you could use it to help Dylan.” Mrs Morris said sincerely.

Melony had to stop herself from bursting out with laughter, she knew Mrs Morris was being serious on the matter and she didn’t want to come across as rude.

“That’s so nice of you! Dylan, what do you say to Mrs Morris? Thank her for your potty please and then we can go inside.”

“Thank you for my potty.” Dylan said quietly before taking it from her.

“No problem at all dear, you do your best to keep that diaper dry. Melony you must keep me posted with how his toilet training comes along.” Mrs Morris asked.

Melony promised to keep her updated and she and Dylan watched her return to her house. Dylan sombrely walked back to the porch his bundle of wet clothes in one hand and his pink potty in the other. Finally Melony opened the door for him and he waddled off into their bedroom. He dropped the potty to the floor and tossed the wet clothing into his hamper. He quickly tore off his diaper and threw it to the ground before storming off into the bathroom, making sure to lock the door behind him.

CHAPTER 8

Dylan turned the shower on and quickly stepped in. The warm water felt amazing as it cascaded over his body momentarily making him forget about his awful day. The moment was short lived as Melony knocked on door and Dylan heard her muffled voice through the loud splashes of water on the shower floor.

“Hurry up in their please we have to leave soon. I’ve put your potty away but you can deal with your own diaper, it’s rude to just leave them laying around on the floor you know.”

Dylan shouted back a grumpy ‘ok’ and returned to his attention to the flowing water. Eventually he decided it was time to get out, lest he face the wrath of his angry girlfriend. The last thing he wanted was to make them late; she would probably get his mother to spank him again. He shuddered at the thought as turned the water off. He stepped out of the shower and quickly dried off; wrapping himself in the towel he walked out into the master bedroom. He saw where he had discarded his worn diaper and picked it up holding it out at arm’s length like it had the plague. He stood there for a moment deciding what he should do with it.

“Just chuck it in the kitchen bin.” Melony said entering the bedroom as if she could read his mind. “Unless you need my help putting it back on.”

Dylan ignored her teasing and quickly walked into the kitchen disposing of it in the garbage with the rest of their trash. ‘Good riddens,’ he said to himself, satisfied it was finally gone. That would be the last time he wore a diaper he was sure of that.

After Dylan had returned to the bedroom to get dressed, he took the time to sit down and watch some television. Memories of the day kept popping up in his mind and he did his best to supress them. Eventually Melony had finished getting ready and came to meet him. As she approached him Dylan turned to face her. Sometimes he would forget how lucky he really was, she looked stunning. She wore a lavish red evening dress that shimmered when she moved; strapped to her feet were a pair of platform shoes that matched the rest of her outfit. Her hair was styled in a way that it sat perfectly on her shoulders. Dylan normally complained about how long it would take her to get ready, but he had to admit, it was often worth the wait. She was naturally beautiful of course he knew that; but when she put in that extra effort on special occasions he struggled even more than usual to keep his eyes off her.

“All set, you ready to go then?” Melony asked.

“Yeah I’m ready; you look stunning by the way.”

“Thanks, you’re not so bad yourself.” She smirked.

Dylan assumed she was joking as he looked down and saw how underdressed he was compared to her. He wore a smart black shirt and some skinny jeans along with his normal everyday sneakers. He wasn’t in the mood for dressing up, especially since he didn’t want to go meet these people again anyway. For the second time today the pair made the trip to the car. Thankfully Mrs Morris was nowhere to be seen and Dylan breathed a sigh of relief as he sat down in the front passenger seat. He noticed Melony place a large bag in the boot of the car before hoping in the driver’s seat.

“What’s in there?”

“Just a couple of things we might need, I brought a bottle of wine. We could hardly turn up empty handed could we?” Melony told him.

Dylan hated wine; he could never stand the taste, so he didn’t care that Melony was wilfully giving away their good Christmas drinks. The car ride continued, conveniently Elaine didn’t live too far from the park they met at this afternoon so it was only a short drive before they arrived. They pulled into the gravel driveway and both Dylan and Melony were very impressed by the house. It was a very large two story house with a rustic look and feel. Wooden oak beams separated the house like a massive jigsaw. Large windows surrounded by ornate white panelling stared out into the front yard. A huge, towering basswood tree sat grounded in the middle of the yard casting a large shadow over the lawn. It was very intimidating but gave the large house a sense of privacy obscuring most of it from passing traffic on the street. The roof was arched and tiled, leafy vines had managed to creep their way over one side covering most of it.

Melony noticed Cheryl’s car straight away and pulled alongside it, both were unsurprised she had beaten them there. The driveway was very spacious; even with the two cards parked side by side there was still plenty of space for someone to drive in and out of the garage. Dylan got out of the car and waited for Melony to grab her bag from the trunk. He could have gone ahead and rang the doorbell for them, but he felt uncomftable approaching the large unfamiliar house alone. They walked together up the gravel driveway and crossed a stone pathway before they reached the front of the house. They noticed there was no doorbell but in its place was a large bronze knocker attached to the door. Dylan did nothing, but as Melony had her hands full she gestured with her head and Dylan pulled on the door knocker. It seemed quieter than he had anticipated and he wondered if he should knock again, but he suddenly heard footsteps coming from inside the house. Once they heard the lock jiggling the couple stepped back as the door was pulled open and Elaine greeted them.

“Hello and welcome, it’s good to see you both again.” Elaine said cheerfully

They exchanged pleasantries as Elaine ushered them both inside.

Melony produced the bottle of wine from the bag she was carrying and handed it off to Elaine.

“I brought you a bottle of wine, hopefully you like it as much as I do.”

“You didn’t have to do that, thank you so much. Come with me to the kitchen we’ll grab some ice then I’ll introduce you to my husband. I’ve left him with your mother Dylan; she’s a wonderful woman, very fond of telling stories about you too.”

Dylan blushed, they had only just got inside and he was already regretting coming along. Elaine led them all down a long carpeted hallway into a large spacious kitchen. She placed the bottle down on the island countertop and fetched some ice from the freezer.

“Luckily we always keep a bag of ice handy for when we use the esky.” Elaine said as she poured some out into a metal bucket.

“There was one other thing I brought too. Is there somewhere I can leave this, preferably close to where we’ll be seated so Dylan has a better chance of making it.”

At those words Dylan’s head snapped toward Melony and he now saw why she brought such a big bag. In her hands she held the pink plastic potty that Mrs Morris had insisted on giving him.
